The accommodation is on the second floor, and the entrance is separate from the beauty salon on the first floor.You can enter the accommodation without going through the beauty salon, so you can maintain your privacy during your stay. 　The accommodation is an old Japanese-style house built 40 years ago in the mountains that retains its old-fashioned appearance. The layout is suitable for a family vacation or a group trip with close friends, as there is a spacious 8 tatami mat Japanese-style room and a 10 tatami mat room. Of course, we also accept reservations for one person. No other guests will be accepted during the reserved stay, so you can enjoy your stay without hesitation. However, each room is only has a sliding door, so each room cannot be used as a private room. Because the house is built on a 300-tsubo site, it is away from the neighbors, so you can stay without worrying about them. During the summer, you can also enjoy barbecues and fireworks in the front yard. If you are interested in the stars, we will also show you the starry sky with the optical equipment we have on clear nights. During the day, you can also use drones to take a walk in the sky over the surrounding mountains from the backyard. This is a quiet and natural environment that you will never experience in the city, and it is an area that still retains the old traditional culture unique to the southern region, which is common to Tono in Iwate Prefecture. This is an old traditional house with a genuine tea ceremony room, built 45 years ago by a tea ceremony master as his own practice space. We have inherited this house and have been protecting it while gradually restoring the neglected garden over the past 10 years. There is no TV in Shirotsubaki. Instead, we value making tea, looking at the garden, reading books, and talking with family and friends. More than 80 types of plants and trees grow in the garden, and the camellias that were once grown by the tea ceremony master are once again in bloom. On the natural stone terrace, you can enjoy reading or tea time without worrying about prying eyes. The tea room still retains the meticulous work of Kyoto craftsmen, and time passes quietly and calmly. During your stay, please choose your favourite from the authentic tea bowls and enjoy the experience of making matcha yourself. We provide a tea whisk and matcha. There is also a library where you can experience Japanese culture and art, and a small study, the "Reading & Writing Nook", bathed in soft light through the shoji. Shirotsubaki is not an inn for visiting tourist destinations. It is an inn where you can experience the peaceful way of life that Japanese people have cherished since ancient times.

The old ryokan building has been renovated into an artistic space. There is only one hot spring bath, which is a semi-open-air family bath.It is a famous and historic onsen.Please enjoy the hot spring, which is fed directly from the source spring, at your leisure. My wife, who is currently the chef, is on maternity leave, so we are not providing meals. Regarding your car, we recommend that you come by 4WD car when using it in winter, such as skiing/snowboarding, because it is a snowy area. For two-wheel drive and FF vehicles, it may be better to bring a chain depending on the model, so please contact us in advance if you are concerned.
