“This is a really nice spot and very good value. John and Karen are friendly and helpful. The views are lovely, the chickens are fun, and the unit is welcoming and well designed. Bery comfy bed. Will definitely go back and would highly recommend it to anyone. Easy drive to Stellarton, New Glasgow, Tatamagouche, Wallace, Pugwash. Even extended my stay by a day while I was there. “Sarah’s place was an amazing getaway for a family with small kids. The house is the perfect size, it’s beautifully furnished and well equipped with kids’ necessities (high chair, packnplay, baby monitor) and was super easy to navigate for my brand new walker 14 month old. The kayaks, paddle board and peddle boat were so much fun and my girls (the other is 5) loved playing on the tiny sandy beach down on the shore. The beach is stocked with crabs and hermit crabs and we loved finding them! The beach is perfect for sand castle building but if your kids want to swim there are great beach close by. The fire pit was super fun, and although you have very close neighbours they are super friendly! Notes: I strongly suggest bringing water shoes or Teva like sandals for this beach. There is no dishwasher and the kitchen is well appointed but very small so I would suggest easy to prepare meals that don’t involve a lot of prep or clean up. There’s no tub so showering with the little ones is necessary. It says there’s no AC, but there is!”
3 acres 1/2 acre fenced for pets, ocean view, brought art & antiques up from NYC. Renovated 150 yr old home for Mom now passed. Wood burning fireplace. Washer, dryer, gas stove, ice maker, great books fabulous art. lots of wild life. Beach 3 minutes by car. Neighborhood beach 10 minute walk.
“Joan's cottage was the most perfect cottage getaway - full of charm, beautiful gardens, and ocean breeze. Our dogs might have had more fun than us with the large yard and private beach. The private beach is a lovely stroll and great place to find shells (and oysters)! Melmerby Beach is a short distance away and has to be one of my favourite beaches in NS! (Bonus: the end of the beach parking lot has a nice mowed grass trail to a lookoff). Would highly recommend this stay not only for the gorgeous property and nearby ocean activities, but Joan's hospitality is above and beyond. We will most definitely be back and we'll be looking forward to testing out Joan's seafood recipes!”
