All about Kenilworth

The tiny town of Kenilworth is located 90 minutes north of Brisbane and under an hour from the Sunshine Coast. With just 300 people living there, Kenilworth may have a small population, but it has the bustling community of a larger destination. Along its charming main streets, specialty shops housed in low-slung buildings sell local dairy products.

It can be a great base for visiting the Conondale National Park and Maleny National Park as well trekking the popular 52-kilometre Conondale Range Great Walk. This four-day trek takes you through some of the area’s incredibly diverse vegetation, and Kenilworth is there to provide all the creature comforts that you need at both the start and the end of your hiking adventures.

What are the top things to do in Kenilworth?

Booloumba Falls

The Booloumba Falls are located within the Conondale National Park around a 35-40 minute drive from Kenilworth. The two-part waterfall cascades down a cliff into the crystal clear rock pools below. The falls are accessed via the lovely 3-kilometre return trek along the open forest Booloumba Falls Walk. The trail is mostly flat and if you want to trek further, there are other trails located nearby.

Fig Tree Walk

Located 7 kilometres from Kenilworth, the Fig Tree Walk is a 1-kilometre long walk through a riverine rainforest. Along the way, you will pass many fig trees and giant stinging trees. Most of the path is made of a wooden boardwalk or bitumen, making it fully accessible for wheelchairs.

Kenilworth Town Centre

Kenilworth Town Centre is a quirky little place with an interesting selection of attractions. Here, you can find a delicious bakery where you can stock up on their famous donuts and a family-owned cheese shop that sells utterly delicious cheese, yoghurt, and milk made using fresh milk from local farms located in the Mary Valley. There is also a local pub and a history museum.
