You can also pull up the kotatsu and lay out a futon to sleep, so it can accommodate up to 3 people. (Please be aware that it can get quite cramped if you have a lot of luggage, etc.) When three people are staying, you can move the kotatsu closer and sleep with the futon, but we recommend a maximum of two people for a more comfortable stay.
