An excellent stopover point en route north or south or a destination in itself. Walking or cycling straight from front door or a very short walk to the lake for swimming, kayaking etc. There is an authentic steam train that runs to Fairlight on Sundays and the station house, a short walk from the house, acts as a bar / restaurant in the evenings. The house was spotlessly clean, modern and uncluttered. It has a lovely open plan layout with high ceiling and lots of glass so big expansive views of mountains and lake and plenty of natural light. We loved our stay here and would definitely come back.

Denise's place was absolutely marvelous. It was bigger than expected. Such a shame that we came during gloomy weather. Else you could definitely see the beautiful night sky with no light pollution around. Everything else was just perfect!

Lovely little town of around 100 people . Great meals and friendly pub and cafe. House was perfect for what we wanted . The area has fantastic fly fishing with access to local guides and good access to multiple sites along multiple rivers .

Philippa is an amazing host, super responsive and helpful. Her place was a perfect base to explore lake Wakatipu and the area. The house is super nice with a lot of character. It had everything we needed. We enjoyed the hot tub very much and Philippa was so nice to explain how to use it. We enjoyed our stay!

Maggie’s place was absolutely wonderful, you don’t get hospitality like this anymore. The food was plentiful and delicious. We opted for the cooked dinner and it did not disappoint! The area was peaceful and we loved the dogs on the property. I would love to stay again, absolutely recommended!

Picture perfect view of the lake and mountains. Quiet restful setting. Well equipped kitchen and good functional appliances. Easy walk to a tramping tracks. Nice shower and fabulous tank water, no chlorine or fluoride The only reason we wouldn't come back is the low ceiling height for my 6ft 2" husband who had to lower himself every time he used the stairs. Both bedrooms are upstairs, the bathroom is downstairs. The house rattled in the strong winds so ear plugs are a good idea if staying in the second bedroom. I highly recommend this place, but do your shopping enroute as the local supplies are limited.

Great house, exquisite and cozy, fully equipped, the surrounding environment is really beautiful. My first impression was that I wanted to live here for the rest of my life. Hahaha.😆
