Dar Zaman is an ancient medina home, restored and opened as a licensed guest house in 2007. We have kind, gentle English and French speaking staff to help you find your way, delicious food, and cosy, clean rooms. We're located at the end of a quiet street where you'll hear just birdsong and the melodic call to prayer. The local hammam is a great opportunity to sample real medina life, and Karima's cooking class is a great way to take a piece of it home with you! :-)

The space
The Riad is a stunning mixture of ancient and modern nestled in the heart of the magical Marrakech medina. The riad is ideally located north of the main square, close to the souks and Medersa Ben Youssef.

The Riad offers four double en-suite air conditioned rooms (Carbone and Douiria rooms can be twin), equipped with hairdryer, digital safe and complimentary toiletries. This listing is for the Carbone room. See our other listings on AirBnb for the other rooms.

All rooms have queen sized beds with a 27cm firm foam mattress with a 5cm memory foam mattress topper - the result is quite possibly the most comfortable beds we've ever slept in! Carbone can be switched from queen to two single beds.

The riad has an interior courtyard, three sitting rooms with two open fireplaces, a dipping pool, sun terrace and free wi-fi throughout.

A sumptuous breakfast is included – it's mainly plant-based and includes hummus, avocado, olive tapenade, almond nut butter, a selection of fresh bread and pancakes, honey, jam, yoghurt, eggs, fresh fruit, with freshly squeezed orange juice, tea and coffee. We can provide gluten-free and vegan options.

Our aim at Dar Zaman is to enable our guests to experience the Marrakech we've come to know and love over the last 18 years. We have a fantastic, hard working team who are ever present yet discreet, helpful and kind. They’ll happily share their excellent knowledge of Marrakech with you - they know where to buy quality babouche at a fair price, where to get the best spa treatments, where to take your cooking class (in the Riad!), and where you can eat a tagine seated metres from a stunning waterfall in the Atlas Mountains.

The riad is a sanctuary from the bustle of the medina – we offer luxurious bedding, complimentary toiletries, hairdryers, wifi, open fireplaces in the salons for the winter months, and a deliciously cool dipping pool for the summer months.

Mint tea is complimentary for all guests – all day and night long. The staff will happily share the recipe and show you how to make it.

I'm Peter, a travel enthusiast, entrepreneur, and the inspiration behind Riad Dar Zaman. I've been living and travelling in Morocco since 2007. Before 2007 I had a different life! I lived in the US for 11 years working as an ad exec in San Francisco and New York City. I came to Marrakech on holiday in 2005 and don't ask how, but when I left one week later, I'd bought the riad that became the wonderful Dar Zaman.
