In order to become an Airbnb Service or Experience host, including an experience co-host who hosts reservations, you must possess valid license(s) in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. You cannot host a reservation without valid license(s) and insurance, as applicable, and doing so may result in action on your account such as paused or cancelled bookings, or listing removal.
You may need to provide proof of these licenses and insurance through our third-party partner, Evident. Once your submission is reviewed, you'll receive an email from Airbnb prompting you to upload any required documents, and you can access the upload link on the Documents page in the Listing editor.
You’re in control of the service or experience you offer, and it’s your responsibility to understand and follow any relevant laws and regulations. Neither Evident nor Airbnb can make sure that your service or experience complies with your local laws, so be sure you’re clear on what’s required and consider consulting with an attorney if you have questions.
Airbnb expects that all service and experience hosts, including experience co-hosts who host reservations, obtain and maintain any required licenses for providing their service or experience. Depending on your location, examples might include services involving massages and spa treatments, and experiences involving certain outdoor activities and tour guiding. Based on the type of service or experience you want to host, you may be required to provide proof of licensure. License details will not be shared with guests or co-hosts on the listing.
Note: If you submitted a driving license as part of Airbnb’s identity verification process and your listing requires a driving license review to transport guests, you will need to submit your license again.
Airbnb expects that all service and experience hosts possess customary commercial liability insurance when providing their service or experience. We recommend that you reach out to an insurance company or broker if you are unsure what insurance is appropriate. Based on the type of service or experience you want to host, you may be required to provide proof of insurance. For example, any experience involving driving, boating, flying, as well as certain outdoor activities (e.g. rock climbing, scuba diving, paddleboarding, etc), will require proof of insurance before your experience will be published.
All co-hosts who host specialized activities may also need to have their relevant licenses reviewed. They will receive separate emails to submit their documentation. The primary host is responsible for ensuring all co-hosts are compliant.
Airbnb works with authorized third-party providers, such as Evident, to review licenses and insurance. We’ll send you an email with a link to upload your documentation for review through Evident. Simply provide a PDF or take a photo of your documents, upload them via the link emailed, and wait for Evident to review. Links are also available in the Listing editor. We’ll even send you a reminder when your documents are about to expire. You'll be given a dedicated link to submit your documents.
Hosts are required to keep up-to-date license and insurance. We ask that hosts reverify 30 days prior to expiration. We’ll send you a reminder when your documents are about to expire. If your document(s) expire, we’ll pause the listing and cancel bookings 7 days out on a rolling basis until Evident receives and verifies the new documents.
Keep in mind that you can’t host a reservation until your licensing and insurance documentation is successfully reviewed. It may take 1-3 business days, but some documents may take longer.
