Note: This program currently applies to listings located in Mexico.
High levels of carbon monoxide (CO) can be fatal. CO alarms can help alert guests if there’s a dangerous CO buildup, such as from gas appliances or fireplaces, and are an important amenity for your listing.
If we’ve notified you that your listing is included in our Carbon Monoxide Alarm Program, you’ll have a period of 60 days to take one of the following actions for each of your active listings:
Where available and applicable, you can request one free, battery-powered combination smoke-and-CO alarm from Airbnb. You can also purchase alarms online or at your local store.
The CO Alarm Program currently applies to listings located in Mexico. If you don’t meet the deadline, a one-time withholding of $1,000 MXN per listing will be withheld from future payout(s). The withholding will appear in the Upcoming section in your Earnings dashboard and will show the date on which it will be applied. If you complete the steps above within 60 days of being notified by us, no further action is needed and the upcoming withholding will be canceled. We’ll also release the money back to you if you complete one of the above actions within six months of the withholding.
After that, Airbnb will use the funds toward our home safety program to help make free CO alarms available to hosts.
