This travel insurance plan provides insurance coverage for your trip that applies only with respect to the covered Airbnb travel booking. You might also have other insurance policies that offer similar benefits, but may be subject to different restrictions depending on your other coverages. You may wish to compare the terms of this travel insurance plan with your existing life, health, home, and automobile policies, as well as any coverage you have through your credit card program(s).

The purchase of this travel insurance plan is not required in order to purchase any product or service offered to you by Airbnb, Inc.

In the event any relevant insurance policy forms are inconsistent with any information provided herein, the language of the policy forms shall govern.

Cancellation

Your travel insurance policy includes a provision for a free-look period, during which your premium is fully refundable. After the free-look period has ended, your premium becomes nonrefundable, unless otherwise stated in the terms of your policy.

New York: Airbnb Agency is an insurance agent licensed by the State of New York. This license authorizes Airbnb Agency to engage in the following activities:

  • Confer with insurance purchasers about the benefits, terms and conditions of insurance contracts
  • Offer advice concerning the substantive benefits of particular insurance contracts
  • Sell insurance
  • Obtain insurance for purchasers

The role of the producer in any particular transaction typically involves one or more of these activities. Compensation is paid to Airbnb Agency, as outlined in the insurance contracts sold by Airbnb Agency. Guests can contact Airbnb Agency to request information about the compensation expected to be received by the producer based in whole or in part on the sale of the insurance.

Delaware: You might have other insurance coverage that offers similar benefits to travel insurance–so we suggest you check out the policies you currently hold.

Maryland: You might have other insurance coverage that offers similar benefits to travel insurance–so we suggest you check out the policies you currently hold. When you purchase travel insurance, the travel insurance coverage becomes your primary coverage. Consent to use electronic records and signatures (“Consent”)

As part of your relationship with us, we want to ensure you have all of the information you need to effectively manage your insurance. Our goal is to provide you with as many options as possible for receiving your insurance related documents. You are not required to consent to electronic delivery of communications. If you do not provide consent to electronic delivery of communications, we will give you certain information “in writing”—which means you are entitled to receive it on paper.

By buying an insurance plan from Airbnb Agency, you affirmatively consent to receiving communications in electronic form (“electronic records”).

Definitions in this consent:

  • “We,” “us,” and “our” means Airbnb Insurance Agency LLC
  • “You” and “your” means the person giving this consent, and also each additional insured, identified on any insurance policy that you apply for or obtain.
  • “Communications” means each insurance policy form and amendment, disclosure, notice, declaration page, premium notices, notice of non-renewal, notice of cancellation, notice of termination, record, document, and other information we provide to you, or that you sign, submit, or agree to at our request, during the course of our relationship.
  • “Insurance Product” means each and every insurance product or service we offer that you apply for or obtain either now or in the future.

Your consent: We use electronic signatures as part of our transactions with you. If we receive your consent to do so, we will provide all insurance communications to you as electronic records, at our sole discretion.

Your consent covers all communications relating to any insurance plan. From time to time, you may seek to buy a new insurance plan from us. When you do, we may remind you that you have already given us your consent to use electronic records and signatures. Declining the use of electronic records and signatures for a new insurance plan does not withdraw your consent for any other insurance plan.

We sometimes provide you with communications in paper, even if you have chosen to receive them electronically. In the event that we later provide these communications in electronic form this consent will automatically cover those communications as well.

Paper copies: If you want a paper copy of electronic records, contact help@generalitravelinsurance.com to request the record in paper.

Withdrawal of consent: You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. Your consent is in effect until we receive notice that you have withdrawn it. After we have had a reasonable opportunity to act upon your notice, your withdrawal will become effective.

Your email address: If there are any changes to your email or other electronic address, notify us at 1-844-234-2500. Be aware that, where permitted by law, electronic records can include notices of nonrenewal and cancellation–so we suggest updating your email address if it changes.

Hardware and software requirements: To receive electronic records, you must have the following equipment and software:

  • An active email account.
  • A personal computer or other device which is capable of accessing the Internet. You must have a modem and available phone line, a cable Internet connection or some other means of access to the Internet, and you must have an active account with an Internet service provider.
  • A current version of an Internet web browser that is supported. See https://www.airbnb.com/help/article/446/ for more information.
  • A current version of software which allows you to receive and read Portable Document Format (“PDF”).

If changes to our hardware or software requirements create a material risk to your ability to access or keep your electronic records, we will give you notice of the revised requirements.

By hereby providing your consent, you also confirm that you have an active email account; you have the hardware and software described above; and you are able to receive and review electronic records.

Privacy disclosure

Your privacy. Airbnb Agency and Generali U.S. Branch may share personal information among each other as necessary to facilitate the offering of the plan. For example, Airbnb Agency will share information such as your name and address, booking number, listing address, and trip dates in order for Generali U.S. Branch to create your travel insurance policy. Generali U.S. Branch will share certain claim information such as claim type, status, and when it was processed to assure the effectiveness of the program. Each company may use your information to improve the quality of its products but will not sell or share your information with non-affiliated third parties. Subject to your notification preferences, the Agency may send you promotional emails to encourage you to protect eligible bookings you’ve made on the Airbnb platform with travel insurance. Airbnb Agency will process your personal information in relation to offering the insurance plan in accordance with the Airbnb platform privacy policy. Generali U.S. Branch will process your information in relation to administering the insurance plan in accordance with its privacy policy.

Payments disclosure

Airbnb Payments collects your premium payment on behalf of Airbnb Agency. The total charges shown at checkout, for premium payments and fees related to other services purchased through the Airbnb Platform, might appear as a single charge to your payment method. Collecting premium payments is considered a Payment Service as defined in the Payments Terms.

Fraud warnings

Alabama

If you knowingly present a false or fraudulent claim for payment of a loss or benefit or knowingly include false information in your application for travel insurance, you engage in illegal activity and expose yourself to criminal penalties such as: restitution, fines, imprisonment, or a combination of penalties.

Alaska

If you include false, incomplete or misleading information in your application for Guest travel insurance with the intention to knowingly defraud or deceive an insurance company, you become subject to criminal penalties under state law.

Arkansas, Louisiana, Rhode Island, and West Virginia

If you knowingly present a false or fraudulent claim for payment for a loss or benefit, or knowingly include false information in your application for Guest travel insurance, you engage in an illegal activity and expose yourself to criminal penalties such as fines or imprisonment.

California

If you knowingly present a false or fraudulent claim for payment of a loss, you engage in an illegal activity and expose yourself to criminal penalties such as fines or imprisonment.

Colorado

If you knowingly include false, incomplete or misleading information to defraud or attempt to defraud an insurance company, you engage in an illegal activity. You might be subject to criminal and civil penalties, such as imprisonment, fines, denial of insurance, and civil damages.

If an insurance company or its agent provides false, incomplete or misleading information with the intention to defraud or attempt to defraud you, the policyholder or claimant, out of the settlement award payable from insurance proceeds, report them to the Colorado Division of Insurance in the Department of Regulatory Agencies.

Delaware

If you include false, incomplete or misleading information to knowingly injure, defraud or deceive an insurance company, you engage in an illegal activity.

Washington, D.C.

If you include false, incomplete or misleading information to purposefully defraud an insurance company, you engage in an illegal activity. You might be subject to criminal and civil penalties, such as imprisonment, fines, denial of insurance, and civil damages.

Florida

If you knowingly and with intent to injure, defraud, or deceive any insurance company include false, incomplete or misleading information in any statement of claim or an application, you engage in a felony of the third degree.

Idaho

If you knowingly present false, incomplete or misleading information to intentionally defraud or deceive an insurance company, you engage in a felony.

Indiana

If you knowingly present a false or fraudulent claim with the intention to defraud an insurance company, you engage in a felony.

Kansas

If you knowingly provide false, concealing or misleading information with the intent to defraud an insurance company or its agents, you engage in insurance fraud. This covers any written, oral, or electronic communications that are part of your insurance application or claim for any benefit from your insurance policy.

Kentucky and Utah

If you knowingly include false, concealing or misleading information to intentionally defraud or mislead an insurance company, you engage in an illegal activity.

Maine

If you include false, incomplete or misleading information to purposefully defraud an insurance company, you engage in an illegal activity. You may be subject to penalties such as imprisonment, fines, or denial of insurance benefits.

Maryland

If you knowingly present a false or fraudulent claim for payment for a loss or benefit, or knowingly include false information in your application for Guest travel insurance, you engage in an illegal activity and expose yourself to penalties such as fines or imprisonment.

Minnesota

If you knowingly present a false claim to purposely defraud or help defraud an insurance company, you engage in an illegal activity.

New Hampshire

If you knowingly include false, incomplete or misleading information in your claim to purposely injure, defraud or deceive an insurance company, you engage in an illegal activity, and might be subject to criminal and civil penalties as provided in RSA 638:20.

New Jersey

If you include false or misleading information in your application for Guest travel insurance, you expose yourself to criminal and civil penalties.

New Mexico

If you knowingly present a false or fraudulent claim for payment or knowingly include false information in your application for Guest travel insurance, you engage in illegal activity and expose yourself to civil fines and criminal penalties.

New York

If you knowingly include false, concealing or misleading information in your application for insurance or statement of claim to intentionally defraud or mislead an insurance company, you engage in an illegal activity. You may be subject to civil penalties not to exceed $5,000 and the stated value of the claim for each violation.

Ohio

If you include false or deceptive information in your application or statement of claim to intentionally defraud or facilitate fraud against an insurance company, you engage in an illegal activity.

Oklahoma

If you knowingly include false, incomplete or misleading information in your claim for proceeds of your insurance policy to intentionally injure, defraud or deceive an insurance company, you engage in an illegal activity.

Oregon

If you knowingly include false, concealing or misleading information in application for Guest travel insurance or a statement of claim to intentionally defraud or deceive an insurance company, you engage in an illegal activity.

Pennsylvania

If you knowingly include false, concealing or misleading information in an application or statement of claim to intentionally defraud or mislead an insurance company, you engage in an illegal activity and might be subject to criminal and civil penalties.

Puerto Rico

If you engage in the following activities, you expose yourself to civil and criminal penalties:

  • Knowingly include false, concealing or misleading information in an application for insurance
  • Present, help, or cause the a fraudulent claim for the payment of a loss or benefit
  • Present more than one claim for the same damage or loss

Penalties for the above activities might include:

  • A fine between $5,000 and $10,000 for each violation
  • A fixed term of imprisonment for 3 years
  • A combination of fines and imprisonment

If you have aggravating circumstances, the penalties might be increased to a maximum of 5 years.

If you have extenuating circumstances, the penalties may be reduced to a minimum of 2 years.

Tennessee

If you knowingly include false, incomplete or misleading information to intentionally defraud an insurance company, you engage in an illegal activity. You may be subject to penalties such as fines, imprisonment, or the denial of insurance benefits.

Texas

If you knowingly include false or fraudulent information in your claim for the payment of a loss, you engage in an illegal activity You may be subject to penalties such as fines and imprisonment.

Virginia and Washington

If you knowingly include false, incomplete or misleading information to intentionally defraud an insurance company, you engage in an illegal activity. You may be subject to penalties such as fines, imprisonment, or the denial of insurance benefits.

If you knowingly include false, concealing or misleading information in your application for insurance or statement of claim to intentionally defraud or mislead an insurance company, you engage in an illegal activity.
