How do I donate from my payout?
Hosts can donate a specified percentage of each payout to help people find emergency housing in times of crisis.
Your donations go to Airbnb.org, an independent, publicly-supported 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that helps facilitate emergency housing to people in times of crisis and partners with nonprofits to provide relief and support to people in times of crisis.
Hosts in the United States and a number of other countries can start donating from their payout today. We're working on making donations available to Hosts in more countries over time. If you aren't currently able to donate from your payout, please check back in the future. You can also make a one-time donation to Airbnb.org.
Manage your donation
You can change your donation percentage or opt out of donating at any time from the Payments & Payouts section of your Account. You’ll be able to change the donation percentage up until the reservation payout has been initiated by Airbnb, generally one day after guest checkout.
To opt in or out of donating, or to change your donation percentage:
- Go to your Account
- Under Payments & Payouts, go to Donations
- Under Manage your donations, click the toggle to opt in or out to donations
- Set or change the percentage of your donation
- Click Save
For Hosts paying income tax in the United States, donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowable under United States tax law as a charitable contribution to Airbnb.org, a 501(c)(3) public charity. Donors should check their local tax regulations or seek professional tax advice to determine whether and to what extent their donation qualifies for any tax benefit.
You’ll receive an email receipt after each donation and an annual tax receipt at the beginning of each year for the previous year’s donations.
Your donation will be collected automatically when your Host payout is initiated, as a percentage of each payout. Because donations are tied to payouts, you can find them in completed payouts in your Transaction History, as well as in your payout confirmation email. Donations are not refundable after your payout has been initiated by Airbnb.
Donations to Airbnb.org are used to support emergency housing for people in times of crisis, like disaster evacuees, refugees, and relief workers providing long-term aid. Airbnb.org partners with nonprofit organizations to help distribute these funds and connect people with emergency housing. These organizations are experts in their fields, and include among others CORE, Mercy Corps, and Church World Service.

Airbnb.org supporter badge
An Airbnb.org supporter badge will appear on your Host profile and on your listing pages after you opt in. The badge will only appear if you have currently active listings, and on listings for which you are the main host, and not co-host. Learn more about the Airbnb.org supporter badge.
Donations and split payouts
At this time, it’s not possible for us to collect donations for a listing if payouts are sent to more than one payout method. However, donations will still work for any of your listings that do not have split payouts.
For example, if a co-host receives a portion of payouts by using a separate payout method, that listing may not be eligible for donations. You can make a listing eligible for donations by editing your routing rules and removing split payouts, so that all payouts for that listing go to a single payout method. 100% of your donation goes to support nonprofits connecting people with emergency housing in times of crisis. No fees are charged on the donation by Airbnb or Airbnb.org.
