Please review our Off-platform and Fee Transparency Policy for the list of what is prohibited and any exceptions. If a host tries to charge you for something that violates our policies or attempts to charge you off the Airbnb platform instead of using the Resolution Centre, please report it to us immediately.
We don't allow hosts to charge a pet fee or cleaning fees for animal hair or dander to guests who are travelling with Service Animals anywhere or Emotional Support Animals in places where applicable laws prohibit the extra fees, such as New York State and California.
If you agree with the charge, pay the host directly through the Resolution Centre. Be sure to keep all payment transactions on Airbnb—otherwise, we can’t help with issues related to off-site or cash payments.
In limited cases, your host can request payments outside of the Airbnb platform for a fee included in the listing’s price breakdown at checkout or a tax that’s allowed to be collected outside Airbnb and was included in the listing description (or House Rules). In either case, you can pay your host in person, using a payment app or using the Resolution Centre.
Hotels may also collect payment off of the Airbnb platform for optional fees where it is in the course of normal business practices (e.g. parking). Other hosts must collect payment for optional fees using the Resolution Centre.
