In the mid 1900's, Alkira was a bluestone shed. Lovingly renovated, Alkira now features a comfortable living area, a double spa, a double shower cave and a deck overlooking rolling hills and the Riesling Trail. Experience this unique cosy retreat with a local wine, bubbles or soft drink and bliss balls on entry. A continental breakfast is provided for each morning of your stay. Alkira is situated on farmland in the heart of the Clare Valley wine region and its stunning countryside.
The space
Alkira Cottage is suited for couples.
INSIDE
Alkira has an open plan living area. On the hall table as you enter you will find a visitor's book and where to find things in the cottage and locally.
The modest kitchenette, dresser and oval dining table with 4 chairs (in case you have visitors) has capacity for eating in.
The lounge area has a double sofa with a selection of cushions, a footstool that can be found under the hall table and a couple of side tables. The TV has many free to air channels and radio stations with a remote. There is a blue ray DVD player and a number of DVD available. A selection of wood and paper is provided for the combustion heater which has a fan that automatically turns on after 20 minutes.
The bedroom area has a 4-poster queen size bed, with a medium to firm pillow top mattress, linen, a quilt and extra throw overs in the blanket box at the end of the bed where a suitcase can sit. There are coat hangers, hooks and a tall boy which also has an iron and a tabletop ironing board, extension cords, power boards with USB facility.
The bathroom has a double spa, double shower, double vanity and a separate toilet. There is a hair dryer and bath and hand towels are provided, along with Sukin shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand wash and aromatherapy bath blend.
A laundromat is located in Clare if needed for longer stays.
There are black out curtains in the open living area and a choice of a black out or one-way blind in the spa area.
The main lights and fans switch is by the front door, and their remote is on one of the bedside tables. The switch for the bathroom light and exhaust fan is a pull switch by the head of the spa and the remote alongside operates the mood lights above the vanity. Extra lights can be found by the sofa, the bedside tables, and above the corner of the kitchenette.
OUTSIDE
The small deck with views over the pond, the Riesling Trail and rolling hills has a garden table and 2 chairs, a 3 burner BBQ with a side burner. Tools and cookware are in the kitchen cupboard.
You are welcome to explore the 22acre farm, which is boarded by Mulkirri Road, Grace Road, the Riesling Trail and the fence and gums north of the crest. (appropriate footwear is recommended). As you wander, you will find different vantage points of views of the Clare Valley and numerous trees that have been planted. Alkira the property has a farmhouse where your hosts Karen and Andrew live east of the garden and carport.

Guest access
You will have the whole cottage, garden area and are welcome to roam the farm during your stay.
Your key access box is on the right of the front door. Your access code will be text to you on the day of your arrival.

Other things to note
On entry, you will have a choice of a bottle of local Clare Valley red, white, bubbles or a sparkling juice. A complimentary continental breakfast will also be provided for each day of your stay. Please let us know of any dietary needs and drink preferences.
