This space is about basic functionality - not sparkly clean hospitality. Imagine "one step above camping" due to rustic amenities and no running water in the cabin itself. Nextdoor are two private toilets with only cold water in the sink, one hot shower, washer/ dryer, and utility sink with hot water. The cabin is just one room with a queen bed, one couch that pulls into a full bed, two twins, and basic kitchen amenities (microwave, fridge, hot plate, coffee maker.)
“Just a short walk from the ferry terminal...super easy directions...even my dumb ass figured it out. Gracious hosts. Bicycles for your use...no need to lock them up...Chuckle...I’m from Los Angeles and this was a breath of fresh air. Coffee shop down the road at 4 corners within walking or bike distance. $15 cab ride (9ish miles) to the National Park Service Lodge where you can get the day boat to Glacier National Park. Ask the driver to stop at Toshco so you can get some groceries on the way back from the boat...be aware stuff is expensive out in the hinter lands so you may want to bring grub from Juneau with you. Budget rentals is way perfect and gives one a wee sense of Alaska. Separate bath/shower...not in rooms. I can’t say enough really great things about this place and these gracious hosts. STAY HERE instead of staying at the rather spendy lodge. 8-). I had 3g cell service on Verizon.”
The Blue Bucket B&B is nestled amidst towering spruce, pine & cottonwood. It looks out over a meadow that is frequented by black bears, moose & eagles. Though secluded in trees, surrounded by nature and a skip away from the Salmon river, you are still close to the beach, pier, local stores, library and local trails. You can bike or walk easily to any of these locations. Our home is very charming, warm, and cozy. We offer free transportation to and from the airport and the ferry.
“I would give 6 stars if I could! We're so glad to have picked Robynn's home for our visit to Gustavus/Glacier Bay National Park, and we'd definitely stay here again if we return to the area. The home itself is beautiful, spacious and very clean; you can tell that Robynn and her family really care for it. It's situated just off one of the main roads in town and there are several bicycles that Robynn encouraged us to take to explore the area. We took them down to the beach the evening we arrived, and also took them to the cafe down the street for delicious crepes + coffee in the morning. There's also a plane wreckage within biking distance that we wanted to explore but, unfortunately, we ran out of time. But what truly stood out was the hospitality! Robynn picked us up from the airport, showed us around the town, and even had freshly baked chocolate chip cookies waiting for us after our first evening's bike ride! She also dropped us off at our tour the next morning, which was leaving at 7 AM from the Glacier Bay Lodge, and she gave us suggestions for things around the lodge that we could do after the tour. Robynn really went above and beyond to make us feel like home!”
