Family-friendly holiday rentals in Gulf of Nicoya

My friend and I really appreciated Ana Maria's hospitality and her family's gorgeous home. We loved the special personal touches including the jungle of house plants and well-stocked library with board games and books. Having the fireplace stocked with wood made it possible to have the perfect ambiance for reading in front of the fire on a misty afternoon! We found it helpful to have earplugs at night, as the home is close to a transit road, and earplugs did the trick to help us sleep soundly.

We absolutely loved this place. It is well maintained and has everything you need. It feels like home. The woodwork in the house is so beautiful. The property is gorgeous and has trails to explore. Carolina and Manuel arranged to get some specially requested food for our stay. They had the food there for our arrival which was so helpful. Manuel took us on an awesome night hike. Carolina’s husband also gave us a tour of the property too. Carolina and her family really go out of their way to make this a welcoming place. They grow amazing coffee on the property which we really enjoyed. They also shared their garden veggies and the bananas. We stayed 4 days and wished we had stayed longer. We found it easy to go into Monteverde for activities like coffee tours, cloud forest, animal sanctuary el Tigre waterfall, etc. There are some great restaurants close by the house and of course in monteverde too. We enjoyed ordering homemade empanadas from cafe Horizonte for breakfast.

Guillermo's place was very comfortable and clean. There was AC in both bedrooms and the living room. We did not get to go to the pool since we stayed one night stay only. He gave clear check in instructions that were easy to follow. I like that it is inside a private area and it was very quiet. I would recommend his place to others.

Norman’s place is amazing and he was very communicative and helpful! Would definitely recommend to go there and I would love to go back.

Three of us stayed at Wanderlust to celebrate the upcoming wedding of a friend. Our stay was nothing short of amazing. Highlights of the accommodations were the incredibly comfortable beds, the peaceful atmosphere and the fantastic hot tub. What really makes this place stand out is Jai. Jai could not have done more to make our stay a magical occasion. She provided us with impeccable food and drink recommendations, connected us with local, trustworthy transportation and bent over backwards to make sure everything was perfect. Jai really is a special treat. We all hope to be back someday.

Super cute the apartment and pool is very close to the apartment! There is a gym also the pool pair!

My husband, three-teenaged kids, and I had an amazing stay here! The condo is a great location close to the main strip for restaurants, shopping, groceries. The resort is well kept and the pool is top tier. The view from the balcony is breathtaking! The condo has washer/dryer and A/C which was necessary for our family of five. Communication with host was easy. We had an issue with water leaking from master BR’s A/C unit and Phil immediately had the issue rectified. We rented a car and drove from SJO airport, and we are so glad we did! Getting around is easier with the Waze app. It took us about 2 hours to get from SJO to condo due to afternoon traffic and about 1 hour and 15 minutes for return to airport in the early morning with less traffic. We give our stay at Anik and Phil’s a strong five star!!

We kicked off our honeymoon in Costa Rica at Axel's place for 4-nights. When we arrived, it was the evening so it was dark out. The following morning we were totally blown away by the beauty of this lovely farm! Gorgeous green trees, flowers, monsteras, & mountains are surrounding you. The view is spectacular (even when it is raining or cloudy). The house has hammocks to relax in, a kitchen equipped with everything you need to make a delicious meal, a very comfy bed, and views to die for! Toucan-spotting over coffee in the morning was a highlight. Axel was not only a great host but a lovely person to chat with! If you are looking for a more remote Costa Rican experience, this is the place for you. Highly recommend and are definitely planning to come back to this wonderful place! Thanks again Axel!!

We ( family with 2 children , 6 & 3 years old) felt very comfortable on the Fidelito Ranche. The kids enjoyed playing in the garden, feeding and showering the dogs, as well as the great horseback riding trip with Leon. We really appreciated the quiet location, but were also able to get to the larger cities quickly.

This is a fantastic home to stay in for airport arrivals and departures, or if interested in visiting Alajuela's churches and museums and the surrounding mountains and Volcan Poas. It certainly is full of personality and every amenity you could need. We enjoyed it so very much, we will definitely return as we live in Costa Rica and are frequently in and out of the airport at twilight hours (we've already rebooked for later this year). The home is quiet, spacious, colorful and safe. Thank you Kenneth & team for thinking of every needed item!

If you are like me, always looking for views and sunsets don’t think twice! This comfortable little mountain home has by far the best views we have found so far in Monteverde. We usually head out at sunset time looking for a good spot but this stay we spent every evening watching the spectacular and ever changing panorama from our own front porch. Super comfortable beds and well equipped kitchen. Would like to add Waze will get you to the lower gate (search Casa del sol, Unnamed road). Just continue on the unpaved road and you will get there! Village is called Altos de Cebadilla.

Amazing stay in Santa Teresa made even better with Sami’s concierge! Emilio (concierge) was INCREDIBLE and the daily cleaning crew. Responded daily to all of my questions and inquiries about the home. Provided great recommendations and went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable stay. The house was great, just what we needed. The pool, outdoor areas, kitchen, and bedrooms were all my favorites. Highly recommended!

Such a lovely stay, the villa is gorgeous, views are stunning, we loved it! The hill is walkable but steep so it was definitely a good work out, we had a 4x4 and it managed it fine. Santa Teresa is great, so many restaurants and bars, we surfed/tried to, headed to Montezuma for zip wire and thoroughly enjoyed the gorgeous sunsets from the villa. BBQ and kitchen was great, we ate in a few times and quite enjoyed watching the ant action at night. Tomi the dog was a lovely extra we discovered he loved chomping on ice cubes, he was a gem! The hosts are very responsive, loved the info they sent it was great, would highly recommend staying here.

Great apartment at a secure location. Pool just outside and access to the beach. Access to the casino next door with restaurant options and an even bigger pool. Can walk the street or beach to the downtown in 20 minutes or get a cab/Uber if the weather is too hot.

We had an amazing time at this property! The house was incredible. The views were absolutely breathtaking and made every morning feel special. One of the most memorable moments was when a toucan came to visit us right on the property. We were lucky enough to snap some photos. Hopefully I can upload them here somehow. Everything about the stay exceeded our expectations. Ana was very responsive and made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. if you are looking for a peaceful getaway surrounded by nature, this is the perfect spot. Highly recommended and would love to come back.

This was the absolute perfect home base to explore this part of Costa Rica. The house was stunning, exactly like photos and descriptions. Pool area was an unbeatable oasis and we did get lots of monkey visits! Comfortable beds, amazing bathrooms with great water temp and pressure, stocked kitchen and awesome patio space for meals and hangouts. Corner store literally at the end of our driveway was so convenient. Laura the concierge was amazing, so responsive, helpful friendly! I couldn’t be happier with the experience and will be recommending Matthew’s place to anyone I know visiting the area. I would absolutely stay here again and hope I’m able to return soon!

Yonatan’s home and hospitality is the best experience I have ever had on AirBnb—the house is stunning, Yonatan’s communication was beyond excellent. He set up cabs for us, gave amazing restaurant recommendations, had a private link to set up excursions with Local Bird, a great delivery service to get groceries (SippDelivery) and had beer and wine and treats from the AMAZING local bakery waiting for us upon arrival. The beds are soooo comfortable and laundered to perfection by the housekeeper, Deyling, who comes every day. We brought my parents as a gift and it was a gift to us all that we chose Villa Kaleo. The pool is great, the view is gorgeous. We saw white face monkeys, iguanas, heard howler monkeys—all around the house. Highly recommend horseback riding with Oscar as well. GO!

The place was amazing! They look cleaners and maid service was also friendly. The only problem is the raccoons drinking from the pool later at night and crawling on the roof but I think that’s out of their hands. Otherwise it’s the most central spot for anything around Santa Teresa and the host is so responsive!

The house and property were as described and expected and we were extremely happy with our stay! We were specifically looking for something outside of the typical tourist spots and Gary’s place did not disappoint. Gary specifically stated that the mosquito population at his house was low and he was absolutely right! Just a few tips and recommendations for other potential visitors. - The kayaks must be taken down the hill to the beach for each use for security reasons. We hesitated to use them until our last day for this reason but we wish we hadn’t. Gary made it very easy and he took them down on his car. It’s an easy paddle to some snorkeling and nice beach areas. You can avoid paying for parking and hauling gear. - there is a public road between the pool area and beach where locals like to park and hang out. Shrubbery gives visual privacy but you may hear music. This did not detract from our stay. Overall we absolutely recommend this house to others.

Unbelievable place to stay. The space, the views, the pool, all amazing. You will be confronted with critters and will definitely need 4 wheel drive but outside of that there is no other considerations. This is the nicest place I've ever been
