In front of our house, which is sandwiched between the Hida-Buri Highway that connects the former Toyama and Takayama, there are the Nissho-bu Mingei Kan and the Yoshima residence, which are important cultural properties that show the rich cultural assets of Japan, and this area is designated as a preservation district for traditional buildings. You can enjoy the old town and beautiful scenery while experiencing historic buildings. It is a 2-minute walk to Miyagawa Morning Market and a 5-minute walk to Sakurayama Hachimangu Shrine, the site of the autumn Takayama Festival. The festival stall in this area is called Hōmeita, and it has a variety of decorations such as a palanquin and sculptures (1-minute walk to the stall). Kusa no Niwa | 100-Year Machiya Lodge in Takayama

Kusa no Niwa is a traditional Japanese-style house with a courtyard and corridors that was built more than 130 years ago. The entire house with a size of 100 square meters will be lent privately to a single group with a maximum capacity of 6 persons. You will find a fusuma, a sliding door with a paper panel, painted by a famous Japanese Painter, which can be also found in the Taue’s House, an Important Cultural Property, located in Nyukawa Town.

This accommodation is a private rental, limited to one group per day. Itakura no Yado Shirakuri is a small old traditional house inn started by an owner who loves traditional houses. Itakura was relocated from the foot of Mt. Norikura and opened in June 2016. I hope that you will be able to feel the atmosphere of Itakura which is not found in everyday life.
