What you'll do
Forget the clichés about Greece and let’s immerse in an urban world, witness of the actual issues of the country and of an alternative way of living. This is Exarchia, a unique area in downtown Athens where leftist and anarchist movements meet, resisting to self-manage itself and promoting inclusion. No, this is not a ghetto, but a social melting pot. The walk will lead you into the core of the area, to understand what it is today, through omnipresent street art, quiet pedestrian streets, activist banners, busy recreational squares and some architectural marvels at the beginning, the neoclassical trilogy, a total different ambiance compared with its neighboring streets. I was born in France but Greece is like my second home… And this story lasts for a long time, as my first encounter with this country dates back to my 5 years old! Today, my city is Athens, and I am passionate about it! My objective: show visitors the hidden face of this capital, too often overlooked or avoided!
