What you'll do

We'll leave Inverness, along the alternative side of Loch Ness, taking in the spectacular views before we hike through the woods of Foyers, taking in the spectacular waterfalls before continuing down to shores of Loch Ness itself. The walk has a descent of about 200 meters and as we return the same way, you will need a fair degree of fitness to make it back up. The hidden path we take, ends as we make it to the shore of Loch Ness, away from the crowds on the other side! We'll stay for a while, taking in the calmness of this special place before heading up the loch to Dores where we will take another short walk along the pebble beach to afford you a magnificent perspective of the great glen fault that Loch Ness is part of. Before we finish up, we will take a short trip up to 4000 year old burial chambers of Clava, (Clava Cairns), where you can drink in the history and atmosphere of these ancient monuments! All in all, this is a lovely day out to one of the most famous Lochs in the world while enjoying it on the road less traveled!

Jamie

Hi! I have been exploring the Highlands for, well all my live really and for the past 13 years, I have been working for the Scottish Tourist Board, VisitScotland running the information centres in the Highlands & Islands which has afforded me the opportunity to get to know those hidden gems and unique locations that you won't find in guide books or with tour companies. I am a local expert on the area and it's history and have a passion for sharing my knowledge and showing guests my favourite spots that you simply miss or can't get to any other way! I have been a SuperHost with AirBnB since 2015 and now run my own business taking small and private groups to some of my favourite places!

Where you'll be

The Falls of Foyers is a special place for me as you really get a feeling of the force of nature, in the deep gorge that has been carved out through the millennia. The walk through the woods, if you're lucky affords the opportunity to see the rare red squirrel, but the walk out the edge of Loch Ness is just amazing and the views as you come out on the clearing looking North are just so peaceful and dramatic!

Guest requirements

Up to 6 guests ages 18 and up can attend. The walk from Foyers to Loch Ness is around 200 meters descent and as we return the same way, you should have a fair degree of fitness. The path is well defined but often wet and slippy so good walking shoes…

More tips

We will be travelling along a narrow road with lots of twists and turns, ups & downs, & while I will always drive with care, you should be a good car traveler. After our hike to Loch Ness, we will stop at a local cafe for some home baking and tea/coffee. Please let me know of any dietary needs
