What you'll do
Get ready to sweat! Mount Storm King is one of the most challenging, but rewarding day hikes in Olympic National Park. Our experience begins with a scenic 35-45 minute drive to Lake Crescent, which will be our home base for the afternoon. From the lake, we will gain 2,000 feet elevation in just 2 miles as we hike to the summit of Mount Storm King. The switchbacks are steep and the hike is grueling, but once you see the final approach, adrenaline takes over. You will use three sets of ropes to assist with traction on an exposed cliffside as you hike to the summit. Upon arrival, you will forget about your burning leg muscles as you marvel at the sweeping views of Lake Crescent. Overall, the hike is 4 miles roundtrip and we allow time for a quick lunch and sightseeing before the hike. Date not available? Send us a message and we can set up a private tour for this hike on other dates if we're available!
Hey, I'm Tommy, the Owner & Founder of Olympic Hiking Co. I lead an awesome team of Naturalist Hiking Guides that help me facilitate hiking tours all over Olympic National Park, based out of Port Angeles, WA. In 2016, my passion for my hometown, hiking, and the outdoors brought me back to Port Angeles to launch this guided hiking tour company. We are commercially authorized to operate in Olympic National Park and have now helped over 5,000 travelers! With Olympic National Park literally in our backyard in Port Angeles, our team of guides bring a passionate, local knowledge about the area. We will overview the history, flora & fauna, and geography of the destination we're exploring, as well as some memorable hiking stories!
Throughout the trip and hike.

Where you'll be
Our tours begin and end in Port Angeles, the epicenter of Olympic National Park. Our meet-up location is a 3 hour trip one-way from Seattle, however, it is feasible without a car by taking the ferry and bus (directions below). The Storm King Trailhead is located at Lake Crescent, a 35-45 minute drive West from Port Angeles. The lake itself is a stunning glacier-fed lake, surrounded by moss-laden old growth forests, and evergreen-topped mountains.
