What you'll do

Paraty's unique XIX century colonial urban planning and architecture makes it one of the most picturesque places in the world. Together, its bio-diversity and culture were recognized as UNESCO's World Heritage in 2019. I'll take my guests on a 2 to 2.5 hours walk through the historical center of the city considered to be entirely a national monument. They will learn about Paraty's importance as a portal for travelers and their impact on the development of several historical eras of Brazil, such as the terminus of the 800 km "Golden Road" that financed the Portuguese empire for hundreds of years. The walk not only tells the history of the city but also visit important landmarks, get to know great food options, what to do and how to spend your time best. We finish the walk with a brief musical "Capoeira experience" to put together the history of Paraty with my research. Afterwards, guests are given the option to continue with either: a) Artisanal Cachaça tasting. b) Lunch or dinner, depending on the time of the day. Paraty is officially recognized as a "Creative City for Gastronomy" by UNESCO. (The food IS NOT included on the experience fee)

Where you'll be

We will visit different buildings and landmarks within the historic downtown like Churches, old houses and squares. The streets themselves are closed to car traffic due to the historic nature of the cobblestone. We will stop in a specialty coffee shop for a short break. The "Capoeira experience" will take place at the coffee shop or in a grassy plaza nearby. The optional experiences would also occur in the historic center.
