What you'll do
We'll meet at Beaver Lake Bird Sanctuary at either 8 or 8:30 AM (time will be confirmed as per the season) one of the best local birding hotspots in the Asheville area and enjoy a couple of hours of great birding. This is an easy location with boardwalks that run throughout the sanctuary, and there's a dirt path that goes around the lake as well. We'll explore the sanctuary and its surroundings for whatever birds we can find for a couple of hours, then we'll tally up the list and enjoy a light snack. Depending on the season, we will either look for warblers, tanagers, and other spring and summer birds or look for ducks, waterfowl, and sparrows during the cooler months of the year.

We are all long time birders and very active in the local birding community throughout Western North Carolina. Aaron, Clifton, Keith, Michael, and Simon lead walks and birding events in the area, as well as teach birding classes at the North Carolina Arboretum and other local organizations. We are members of the Carolina Bird Club, Elisha Mitchell Audubon Society, and American Birding Association. Between us we have lived overseas and looked for birds on every continent except Antarctica. We love to share birds and nature with visitors to this beautiful part of the world.
