What you'll do
Explore three different worlds in one day in Český Kras, a stunning nature reserve on the doorstep of Prague. After a 45-minute train ride out of the city, our 13 km (8 mile) walk begins in the beautiful Berounka River Valley, the longest karst valley in Czechia. We set off through ice-age rock formations carved out by the river. After an hour and a bit of a climb we come to the clifftop village of Tetín, site of a Neolithic settlement and an important place in Czech history. Next we have the chance to relish a lush oasis of wild native woodland in Koda, a place close to my heart. We’ll stop for a drink here at a natural spring at the halfway point of the walk. We come out into idyllic countryside and rolling hills where I'll show you my favourite lookout with more instagramable views of the Berounka Valley. The experience ends by around 3pm in the village of Karlštejn, famous for its fairytale castle nominated as a UNESCO site. In Karlštejn I'll see you safely onto the train back to Prague. As part of a small group you'll have my undivided attention. Feel free to pick my brain about Czech culture and wildlife, or simply relish the silence and the sound of birdsong.
I wake up grateful every day that I live in a nature lover’s paradise. I’ve been hiking for more than 20 years but I’m still fascinated by the unique beauty of Český Kras nature reserve. I love coaxing friends and family out of Prague for the day to explore the incredible biodiversity here and to follow in the footsteps of Czech history. When we move at a more human pace we can take in the beautiful world around us. And it makes me happy to see my hikers relaxed and happy! I have Masters degrees in the Environment and Forestry but you don't need a degree to reconnect with nature :)

Where you'll be
From Prague we take the train to the riverside village of Srbsko. I live here! I'll show you my favourite walking route up above the Berounka River Valley to the ancient village of Tetín. After our climb we can stop here to soak in the history and stunning river views. We continue through tranquil forests and idyllic countryside to the village of Karlštejn. After our hike we can grab a well-earned beer in my favourite pub.
