Lovely intimate meditation experience with Shinren at Fuku-In. He only takes reservations by request, so I feel blessed that I was able to do this during my sorry stay in Nara. I have done a few other meditation experiences in Japan, and this is one of the most thoughtfully planned. It's not just about the meditation experience, but explaining the principles behind it. They have English translators available, along with visual aids and printed translations. They thoroughly explain the different stages of Ajikan meditation, which is an interesting new style to learn about. They even sent a few links, websites, and PDFs afterwards for further understanding.
I would recommend this for beginners to meditation/mindfulness or those that are just looking to learn a bit more about the culture. The area was a short walk to the ancient priest road to the forest and Nara Park, and the translator even walked me to the path.
I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and it was enlightening. Thank you!
