What you'll do

This will be a full afternoon adventure (6 hours) exploring destinations not usually seen or experienced by the average visitor to the World Heritage-listed upper Blue Mountains, west of Sydney.

Yes, you could visit all the usual standard, well worn, and crowded Blue Mountains tourist destinations but isn’t it more fun to “step off the trail” and explore those little known secret places that only us locals know about?

We'll start the day with a hike to a very secluded spot that has amazing views into the Megalong Valley. It's not unusual to see little lizards and Mountain Dragons watching us along the track.

We'll then explore a seriously amazing secret cave, and if it's been raining recently, a beautiful waterfall that you can even walk behind too!

We'll then trek through a truly wondrous, cool, and ancient rain forest with a lovely gentle creek running through that we can explore and splash in - if you can stand the cold water !

Then finally to wrap up the day, we'll trek through the bush to a truly breathtaking and heart stopping vantage point to take in the amazing afternoon sunset showing the ever-changing views across the upper Blue Mountains as the sun goes down.

We'll then trek back to the 4WD in the dark - with torches if you need it. Trekking through the Blue Mountains bush at night is a fabulous experience, especially when the stars (and animals) come out.

I LOVE the Blue Mountains. I love its bush, its creeks, its waterfalls and natural pools, its little villages, and especially its hidden, unique, and little known places that only us locals know about! I have been hiking, camping, exploring, and living in the Blue Mountains for over 20 years. I'm even the local Scout leader up here too ! I founded Blue Mountains Day Trip Tours to bring my knowledge and love of the Blue Mountains to visitors of the region - and to help them explore places that few have seen - so they can take home memories and tell of experiences that their friends will envy.

Where you'll be

Our day starts and ends at Katoomba. We'll travel as far west as Mount Victoria, with stops in Medlow Bath and Megalong Valley.

If you are staying at one of the many local hotels or B&Bs in the upper Blue Mountains I can happily pick you up from your accommodation, and drop you back at the end of the day.
