What you'll do
Indulge in a slice of one of the finest British traditions and take the signature Afternoon Tea at Dylan's. Guests can enjoy a family-style afternoon tea at Dylan Thomas Birthplace whilst listening some of Dylan's work.
After a guided tour of the whole house, guests can enjoy a bounty of beautiful home-baked pastries and teacakes, freshly baked scones with cream and strawberry preserves and a selection of succulent sandwiches whilst being served a hearty Welsh brew served in a set of antique Edwardian china.
The afternoon tea will be provided at Dylan's front parlour, which was the ‘best' room in the house and somewhere that the young Dylan would only enter on special occasions! In his wonderful story, 'A Child's Christmas in Wales' Dylan recounts a typical family Christmas at the house. The front parlour was where ‘ … there were sherry and walnuts and bottled beer and crackers by the dessertspoons, and cats in their fur-about watched the fires; and the high-heaped fire spat, all ready for the chestnuts and the mulling pokers… '.
The delicacies, house, poems, and history all contribute to a memorable immersion into early 20th century Wales, a nostalgic and simpler time and, of course, the roots of Dylan Thomas and his work.

My name is Geoff, and I am the restorer and owner of Dylan Thomas Birthplace. The house has been lovingly restored back to how it was in 1914, the year that the famous writer Dylan Thomas was born in the front bedroom. Dylan spent most of his life living in the house and it is where he wrote two-thirds of his work. I am also the Chairman of the Dylan Thomas Society. We've been providing afternoon tea in the Birthplace since 2008.
