News: 23/08/15. The apartment has just been refitted with brand new furniture (photos have been updated). Fantastic location in the heart of Melbourne City CBD, across the road from the iconic Flinders Street station, opposite Federation Square and St. Paul's Cathedral. This studio apartment is on the 8th floor, quiet and spacious. Amenities include Queen size bed, double-size sofa bed, Wifi Internet, bathroom and shower, TV, heating, air conditioning, gas cooking kitchen, fridge and microwave oven. Coin washer and dryer are available in the basement of the building. Snooker table and table tennis table are also available in the basement of the building. Fast and easy access to apartment from Melbourne Airport via Starbus, Skybus or taxi. Once at the apartment, there are plenty of restaurants to choose on Flinders Street, Degraves Streets, Flinders Lane and Collins Street. Supermarket (Coles) is on Elizabeth Street, three minutes walk (opens from approx 6am to 1am). There is a Fitness First Gym (Melbourne's largest gym chain) two minutes walk away on Flinders Street. Daiso supermarket (small household goods) is in the same building as Fitness First. Most of the daily use things can be purchased reasonably priced from Coles and Daiso. Across the road from Flinders Street station (which is the main station for suburban trains). One minute walk to Federation Square and St. Paul's Cathedral. Chinatown is a short stroll away. So is Emporium shopping centre. The Yarra River and Southbank are on the other side of Flinders Street Station. Guests have the whole apartment to themselves during the stay. I will be present for check-in and can be contacted during the stay if guests have any questions. If I'm overseas during the listing, one of my friends will be present for the check-in.
The apartment is located at the heart of Melbourne City CBD. It is close to everything: Melbourne Convention Centre (for conference attendees), Collins Street (the main business street of Melbourne CBD), Swanston Street, Federation Square, St. Paul's Cathedral, the Yarra River, Southbank, Queen Victoria Market and of course, Flinders Street station. The apartment is within the Free Tram Zone in the CBD. Victoria Market, Crown Casino and Entertainment Complex. Exhibition Centre, and so on can all be easily accessed using the free tram service. Transport to Australian Open, Melbourne Grand Prix, Melbourne Cup etc all depart from Flinders Street Station next to the apartment. There are many shops within walking distance. For academic visitors, there is easy access to the University of Melbourne, RMIT and Victoria University. The apartment is so central that most of the landmarks in the city are within walking distance. Most of the landmarks within the CBD can also be accessed using the free tram services, including Parliament House, Melbourne Exhibition Building, Melbourne Central, Queen Victoria Market, Docklands Harbourtown Shopping Centre, Southern Cross Station, the University of Melbourme and Lygon Street (Melbourne's Little Italy). The Yarra River is just behind Flinders Street station. It's great for walking and jogging. Ferries travelling along the Yarra River and to Williamstown depart regularly from wharfs on Southbank (across the Yarra River from Flinders Street Station). The famous tourist attraction Queen Victoria Market can be reached either by trams on Elizabeth Street, or an approx. 20 minute walk from the apartment.
  • Everything was perfect. Alice was unable to meet us but gave us the contact number of her husband. Despite our flight being delayed by a few hours Geordi met us and gave us a run down of the apartment and where everything was. Even included a couple bottles of water and some chocolates.

  • AWESOME location! Dead on center of everything. Just based on that make it such a great airbnb. The fact that the hosts, Alice & her husband Geordie, were extremely nice and accommodating make it even better. They even offered to pick us up from the airport for a cheaper price than a taxi/uber. Apartment is small but sunny and light, with a nice outlook. Surrounded by restaurants, bars and student cafes. Trams at doorstep, next to Melbourne Central railway station. Opposite State Library, close to main sports arenas and universities.
Close to the best of Melbourne: State Library, Federation Square, Victoria Art Gallery, MCG, Melbourne Park (Australian Open), Botanical Gardens, Melbourne University, RMIT, restaurants, cinemas, shopping. Small but adequate kitchenette. Surrounded by eateries of every variety. Coin washer and dryer available next to apartment. I will either meet you at the apartment, post you a keycard or leave it for you at reception if you are arriving during reception house. Apart from that, you'll be on your own.
Swanston Street is a hot spot for music and food. State Library forecourt is a great gathering place. Please note this is the central city so if you are seeking a quiet spot, this is not for you. Melbourne University and RMIT University a few minutes away. A Unilodge operates from the building but my apartment is separate. Trams and railway station at the doorstep. Tram travel around the central city is free. I will leave MYKI cards which you need to travel on trains or trams out of the city centre. You will need to load them up it's about $8 a day for all-day travel. Bicycles for hire across the road for a daily fee of $2.80. Heaps of attractions within a few minutes walk. From airport, take a taxi to the apartment (about $50), or catch the airport bus to the city and get them to drop you off near the intersection of Little Lonsdale and Swanston Street. If you're travelling by train, get off at Melbourne Central Station and look for the Swanston Street exit. There are ceiling fans but there is no air conditioner (it's a heritage building) so it does get hot after a succession of hot summer days. Melbourne can be very hot in summer. On the other hand, it can be mild. If you feel the heat, you might want to choose another place in summer.
  • Catherine was upon our arrival. She was very welcoming, explained us what there was to know to move, food, etc.... The accommodation was completed for 2 people, very well situated and well equipped. We could not hope better. We shall return to it gladly

  • Catherine Watson es una EXCELENTE persona con un hosting de altísima calidad. Lo primero de todo es que Catherine nos recibió al llegar a Melbourne, muy atenta y siempre ayudando. Como somos veganos necesitábamos saber sitios para comer vegetarianos y Catherine nos asesoró de todas las opciones de la zona. Al llegar a la casa, había muchos detalles: bombones, cremas, jabones y útiles de baño, fruta fresca, un periódico, abundantes recursos como papel higiénico, aceite de oliva virgen y algo increible: el frigorífico lleno de comida y bebidas. Además nos dejó hasta una tarjeta de tren (una para mi y otra para mi esposa), valoradas cada una en 10 dólares y monedas para la lavandería... Además de ésto, había calefacción que funcionaba muy bien, una televisión Samsung que permitía meter películas por USB, revistas y presa especializada y hasta un portatil LAPTOP con cámara para hacer (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) !!! La casa de Catherine "absolutely central Melbourne" es ideal para pasar los 15 primeros días de estancia en Melbourne, y el edificio en el que se encuentra está lleno de universitarios, en pleno centro de la ciudad. Delante de la casa a dos pasos, está la Biblioteca State Library con internet Wifi y todas las comodidases extra. Sinceramente, creo que ha sido imposible encontrar una mejor opción y estamos muy contentos de haber elegido a Catherine como nuestra primera opción. El precio aunque parezca más caro que otras opciones, es que "lo merece" :) En resumen: la cama super cómoda, un portátil con una internet de 256Kb justa para ver páginas-email y (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) con cámara, una televisión Samsung moderna con entrada para USB para ver películas DIVX-MP4 bajadas de internet, un baño perfecto con su ducha y todo muy limpio, e incluso con el suelo con funda térmica... la casa es muy pequeña pero ideal para una pareja que recién llega a Australia. Mi esposa y yo somos ingenieros y hemos encontrado este lugar muy acogedor. Sólo deseo felicitar a Catherine por tan buen alojamiento que nos ha bridado estos días. Gracias.

  • Catherine's place was perfect for my parents, who were visiting from interstate. Sitting right on top of the Melbourne Central train station and myriad tram lines - public transport is easy! It is inner city for sure so the sounds of the city are present but were not overpowering. Catherine left Myki passes for transport, change for the washing machine and all of the kitchen necessities. If you want a place in Melbourne that can be your HQ for getting around the city and out into the suburbs when needed - this is your place!

  • Although I did not get the chance to meet Catherine in person, she has been a very nice & accommodating host. As Melbourne is like a 2nd home to me, the location is right smack in the central - directly opposite the State Library ( a very good location). The place is exactly like the photos. Just a few mins walk you can get to Woolies (which is just across the street in QV shopping mall) & Coles (which is just in Melbourne Central). There are a lot of food stores (Subway is just downstairs) within walking distance. The apartment is very clean and the kitchenette (most condiments that you can think of are provided) is adequate for proper cooked food. Myki cards are being provided as well. As ceiling fans are the only cooling option in this apartment (aircon is not available), during summer time it maybe too hot to stay in (if you are the type of person who needs to be in an aircon room 24/7). As for me, the ceiling fans are pretty cooling at dusk (most of the daytime, I was out exploring anyway). Trains & trams are right at doorstep too. Thank you for the cozy experience! Really enjoyed staying.

She was flexible regarding our arrival time and touches like leaving us myki transport cards to use made our stay in Melbourne much easier. The apartment is sunny and has a great view.   • Catherine est une personne très douce et sympathique, elle nous a très bien accueillie dans son incroyable appartement, et a prévue tout ce qu'il fallait pour que nous passions un bon séjour ! La vue de l'appartement sur la "state library" est tout simplement superbe, l'appartement lui-même est très bien équipé ( tout ce qu'il faut !! ) et très bien agencé ! Le quartier est très vivant, très animé, tout est a proximité ( restaurants, bar, supermarché, tram, bus, boutiques de shopping ... ), parfait pour une immersion totale dans Melbourne !

We are situated next to the federal police department and various courts. So, this is possibly the safest part of town. Our neighbourhood is densely packed with restaurants, bars, cafes, shops and more. But we are also next to Flagstaff Garden, which is one of the most beautiful and tranquil green space in Melbourne. You will love living here as much as I do. Although walking is the best way to discover Melbourne, our home is conveniently across the road from Flagstaff metro station and 5 minutes walk from Melbourne Central metro station. We are also in the free tram zone, so ride them to your heart's content. If you decide to discover Melbourne on a bicycle, we have a secured bicycle storage room on the ground level.   • Mica is a very nice and friendly host!! She prepared clear and useful informations which makes us an easy and pleasant trip:) Her apartment is so lovely. Clean and tidy, well-equipped with everything you need and the night view from the balcony is just amazing!! Location of the house is also perfect, near the free tram zone stop, so we can always enjoy our time and travel around the city easily!! And I have to say it again, it is a wonderful experience staying in Mica's apartment and words are not enough to explain how much I love her place!

  • We stayed five nights here - excellent location, easy walking distance to Queen Victoria Markets and also well-placed for exploring Melbourne CBD. The views were beautiful through the ceiling-to-floor windows, and the block-out blinds work very well if you want a bit of a sleep-in. Apartment itself is new, very clean and comfortable, and exactly as described and shown in photographs. Lovely shower and bed, and fully equipped - washer and dryer, dishwasher and kitchen appliances to prepare meals. Free Wi-Fi was a huge plus too. Nadia and Adji went above and beyond to help accommodate our stay dates, and were pleasant and efficient communicators. No problems at all with collecting keys and returning them. Overall you couldn't ask for better value for your money - thanks for helping make our stay in Melbourne such a pleasant one :)!

  • Stayed at Adji's apartment for 5 days and found the apartment exactly as described in the pictures . What I found most useful was that it came fully equipped with a washer and dryer which came in handy after my month Long stay in New Zealand and a nicely laid out kitchen which had everything you need if you wanted to stay in and made your own meals. The apartment was situated in a perfect location that made it easily accessible to the shops and eateries and food markets Melbourne is famous for. Thank you I enjoyed my stay very much.

Nadia and Adji been a very great host, as they are prompt and responsive at all times. Place were 5 star clean, free nespresso coffee in the compartment. Summing up, beyond my expectation!   • The apartment is perfect. New, and perfect location. It is a 20th floor, so views are nice All works perfect, washing machine, dryer etc It does not have a table, so, if you plan dinner in it, be aware Also, it has no curtains or blinds so make sure you are prepared so light does not wake you up

  • Loved this little gem, great location, it's a one bedroom with a fold out sofa bed. Very comfortable and clean. Only thing missing was Champagne or wine glasses and perhaps a couple of Nespresso pods, as there is a machine there. Overall fantastic stay. Great communication with Nadia to let us in too. Will come back again.

  • What a great choice when staying in Melbourne. Walk everywhere or catch that free tram around the City. Melbourne central is a few minutes walk away and my son surprised me by visiting that supermarket to purchase ingredient s to cook me a meal . The view was like being in downtown New York . The hosts were very friendly and punctual. Recommend this chic apartment .

  • Didn't get to meet Xin, but she was very responsive with any queries. Fantastic location in the CBD, and very close to Melbourne Central. Apartment was clean and the views are amazing. Having the aircon in the room was convenient, and so is the use of the washing machine and dryer. Didn't use the TV much, but seems to have a great selection. Will definitely be back! :)

  • I stayed in Xin's flat for three days and had a great time. What you see on the website is accurate, even though the flat is in the city centre it's very quite both during the day and night. There are other two bedrooms in the flat which weren't busy for the first two days. The swimming pool, gym, sauna and jacuzzi in the building are definitely a great bonus. I didn't meet Xin but had quick answers whenever I needed anything and she also did me the favour of keeping my luggage there a bit more than the check out time. I recommend you to stay there if you need to be in a central position and want to spend your time in a nice and quite place with a great view of the city.

  • Xin is very nice and clean host. Perfect location and great view. Xin left my keys in 7/11 because I arrived at 2 am, so it was not a problem for me to make a late night check in. Next time I will stay here again.
