  • I had a great experience there. The staffs are very friendly and eager to help. They made good efforts to build a traveler community that is easy to meet other guests from all over the world. The nightly hangout in the lobby is definitely one of my favorite experiences in this SF trip. More recommended for solo travelers, but couples should also have a great time there.

  • Good place for staying in SF. Guys are very nice and helpful. Highly recommended.

  • It was a big pleasure to stay here. Everybody is very kind and funny, and they'll do anything to help you to have the best experience. Room and hostel very clean

    Rafa2016-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for three nights, we were very happy with their flexibility and booking process! Our room was quit small and we shared one toilet and two showers with 20 people, which doesn't help to keep it clean, but we have to say we managed not to wait for too long. Beds and rooms are ok. I would recommend it if you are aware it is a pure hostel! Btw, pictures are a bit misleading, something less cool.

    Marta2014-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Me and my friend had a great time at the hostel and met some very interesting people throughout our stay. The people working at the hostel were very warm and friendly. Also, the hostel is in a great location, with Chinatown just around the corner and the piers within walking distance. This was the first time I ever stayed at a hostel, but it's definitely not my last.

    New2012-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • From T- The hostel was clean and nice! The person below of the bunk bed was a person of the same country origin! Staff was friendly. Good location. Only wish there were locks on the lockers.

    Matt2015-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Host and other guests were all very welcoming. Great central location which felt very safe and was easily accessible. It was so cool to sit and chat with different people visiting from all over. I really enjoyed my stay!!

  • Jade was nice and helpful. Everything was exactly as described. Can't beat Chinatown in San Francisco!

    Geoffrey2016-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Noisy at night. Shared kithen with other guests. Would be a nice sitting area if there were furniture in it. The place was very clean and the location was perfect. Curtains for keeping light out were barely adequate. If I could i would give it a 3 1/2.

    Beth2017-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is great if you want to stay in a good central location. It's clean. Jay was very responsive and accommodating.

  • Be cautious that the rooms do not look like the photos. They are tiny, almost closet-sized with really uncomfortable beds and uncleaned carpeting. The bathrooms are also incredibly small, with about one square foot to move around, and funky, dirty soap and conditioner containers in the shower.

  • Good place and location to stay.

    Marielle2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • This venue is really worth What you’re paying. Although it’s not the most comfortable accommodation, it’s location more than makes up for it, and the accommodations are very clean. I really appreciated the kind staff as I came and went. Altogether, I enjoyed my stay and would stay here again.

  • Great location, 24h check in, clean room. I recommend

    Robin2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for a place to stay in a great location downtown, it's hard to beat this price, but keep in mind, there's no AC and streaming video on their WiFi is not the best (was watching UFC Saturday night and EPL Sunday morning). I made the mistake of booking without knowing their's no AC, so falling asleep took a while after a hot sunny day, but once the sun set, it wasn't a problem. My favorite things were the staff, which held my bags before check in and after check out while I explored the city, and the view from my window. If you plan to spend nearly all your time outside the room and just need a place to crash, and you're fine without AC or reliable video streaming, this is your spot. Overall, I would stay again but not in the summer, and I would plan my time better so I only come back to crash.

  • Really great stay. And polite management.

    Zeeshan2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Decent hotel but good value given central location. Room was basic but for one night, it was fine. Downside was the noise from the street was disruptive although it was hot so we had the windows open

The newly remodeled bedroom is located in my 6 bdr 6 bath unit It's just one block from the Top of Nob Hill where the Fairmont, Mark Hopkins, and Huntington hotels are located and a short stroll to Union Square, Chinatown and several other popular amenities. Each room has its own private en-suite bathroom and electronic lock for added privacy and convenience, Wi-Fi, fresh towels and linens, smart TV, desk, etc. We have several rooms available so please inquire if you need more than one.
Washer and dryer are located in the room on your right first thing entering the unit. Extra toiletries, towels, and cleaning supplies can be found in one of the closets in the hallway.
I love living in this neighborhood, and know that its prime location and proximity to popular landmarks, will make you fall in love with San Francisco, as much as I have. Street parking is sometimes available, but I recommend the nearby parking garages with overnight and long-term parking options low as $20/night. If you do decide to do parking on the street, please be sure to read the signs as some of the streets in the neighborhood will tow during certain days/hours of the week. Do not leave any of your personal belongings inside either in plain view or in the trunk hidden. This is a safe neighborhood, but theft tends to require citywide vigilance.
  • Jessica's place was a perfect low-key spot to rest while traveling for business. It has a great location, a huge communal kitchen and I felt quite safe both within the area and in the apartment itself. Would definitely book again!

  • A charming, historic bed and breakfast, Petit Auberge is perfectly situated in San Francisco with shops, great food and sights nearby. Petit Auberge fosters a pleasant sense of community with their warm welcome by staff and a daily happy hour for guests. I certainly would recommend this darling b&b for anyone coming to San Francisco.

Location, Location, Location! This clean, private, unique hotel room with shared hallway bath is a short walk to the Famous Cable Cars, Nob Hill, Public Transit, Union Square, Fisherman's Wharf, Grace Cathedral, AT&T Park, Polk Street, and more! You’ll love the place because of the location, the people, and the value! This room was recently painted and furnished with new linens. The shower and toilet are located in the hallway of the hotel. They are cleaned every day by professional cleaners.
  • People there are very nice and very helpful and the location is good. The facilities are too old and too comple, it was time travel experience to me. It felt like I went back to 100 years ago.

    2017-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent location. Union Square is 2 blocks away and Dragon’s Gate (entrance to China Town) is 1 block away. 1 block away there’s a Starbucks and a CVS. Public transportation (buses and cable cars) are 1 block away and there’s easy access to San Francisco airport with the Bart train (get off at Powell Street or Montgomery Street) which are some blocks away. There’s a lot of steep hills in San Francisco wherefore you’re probably going to use public transportation at some point wherefore I recommend to buy a Muni Passport (you can also use the app MuniMobile) for 1, 3 or 7 days. 325 Sutter is actually Park Hotel and it’s both a hotel and a place for permanent residents. Friendly staff. Pictures of room are true. Very comfortable bed. In the room there’s also a small fridge where I had milk and a pack of cereal for easy breakfast. The TV in the room has very bad reception and there’s only 7 channels to choose from (not important to me). From the window you will look into a wall in the small yard = no view and other people leave their windows open as well so expect some noise with the window open. Toilet is shared in the hallway (there’s 2 on the 4th floor) and shower (there’s 1 on the 4th floor) is shared in the hallway too. People tend to leave their hair, shavers etc. in/on the tub hence you need to be ok with this as you never know who or how many went before you. It’s your choice to use a shower on another floor. Please bring your own slippers or flip flops. As advertised there’s no aircondition and the room gets very hot but it’s possible to borrow a fan if asked for in the reception. You need to ask for a hair dryer in the reception as well if needed. On street level you will find the lobby and the laundromat $3 per washer $2 per dryer where you bring your own detergent. In the lobby there’s also a microwave you can use but you need to bring your own cutlery or buy plastic. In the lobby there’s also free coffee. I recommend Lori’s Diner 2 blocks away for breakfast but expect some waiting time if you aren’t there early. I also recommend to try out focaccia bread (with raisins are amazing) at Liguria Bakery at Washington Square – but don’t be there too late as otherwise they’re sold out.

    Sussi2017-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • I wanted a very economical (but clean) room within a few blocks of my business appointment, and 325 Sutter was perfect for me for two nights (well, almost perfect... had the temperature been more typically cool-ish for San Francisco at the end of September, it would have been a bit more comfortable to sleep without A/C, but I was prepared for it and made sure to bathe in cool water before retiring). The room was exactly as described and the location was incredibly convenient. The staff was very helpful. I would not have wanted to stay with shared hall baths for more than a night or two, but I am very pleased with my savings and the convenience of the location.

    Catherine2017-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, good price, ideal for a quick stay!

    Zhiyang2017-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • The location of this place is great! Right next to China Town, very close the Union Sq, good bars and restaurants, etc, just a great area in general. We never felt uneasy about walking around at night in this area either. Felt very safe. The old elevator they have is super cute! Our room was very basic but it had all that we needed. We never had an issue with the bathrooms or showers. The only issue we had was the no AC so our room was a little stuffy and because our window opened to another building there was no breeze. I'm sure we could have asked for a fan but didn't really think about it until the last night. Also, if you sleep with your window open it's pretty noisy outside but when we shut it the last night of our stay we didn't have any issues with noise! The staff was really helpful and accommodating. We checked out on a Wednesday morning and had a really late flight and we were able to leave our bags locked up in a back room so that we didn't have to lug them around our last day in San Fran. That was so nice not to have to worry about! Really good and affordable place overall!

    Megan2017-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Location is great, and the room is fairly spacious for 1-2 people. Overall a good value!

    Yoeal2018-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • This place basically is what it is advertised to be. It was clean and recently painted. The linens and the furniture were new. The location is great. Just off of Union Square.

    Kevin2017-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • This building is currently undergoing renovation on some of the same floors where guests are staying. The rooms can get quite warm, so not ideal for someone who likes it cool (or quiet as you may need to open the window).

This neighbourhood is in the heart of San Francisco, close to everything, and with restaurants, pubs, and a convenience store all in close proximity.
  • This place definitely feels like a hotel in a good way. San Francisco hotels got super expensive the week I was in town and this alternative was great. Same quality as the nearby hotels but at a great value. Super glad I chose to stay here while working in downtown San Francisco!

  • The room is perfect for a single traveler or couple. Comfortable, clean and affordable, close to downtown. Small, but has everything you need. But it is an older building on a busy street, so it can be loud at times. If you are a light sleeper, this may not be for you.

  • I was able to stay at Rick's apartment for 2 days. I live fairly local and was able to take BART into the city and walked to the apartment, which took about 15 minutes. You can also take muni or a cab for fairly cheap. Rick was very accommodating. Noise was not an issue for us at all. The place has plenty of room for 4. It is conveniently located on the border of China town and North breach neighborhood. Suggest walking around to get a feel of the area. Plenty of restaurants and bars within walking distance.

    Kokob2013-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Myself and two friends had the great pleasure in staying at Rick's appartment in October 2011. We had such a wonderful time and nothing was too much trouble for Rick. The space was spotless and had all we could have wanted. Everything was in easy reach from the appartment and I wouldn't hesitate in staying there again if I am so lucky to find myself in San Francisco. Thanks so much Rick for making our stay that little bit extra special. x

    Lucy2011-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is a small little place right in the outskirts of Chinatown. At night, be wary of the karaokers downstairs but other than that, this place has lots of charm with amazing food nearby and easy access to hot spots in East SF.

    Jennie2018-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • I strongly recommend Rick's apartment. It is clean, comfortable and in the heart of the city. Rick is a nice person and gave useful info for us!

    Marcos2013-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Well located, in Chinatown, at a 15 minutes walk to Fisherman wharf. Good to know: The apartment is on the 3rd floor with no elevator. The apartment is well equiped, elegantly decorated, with confortable beds. We appreciated the two separate bedrooms. Easy to eat at the apartment for a family of 4 if you enjoy aisan uisine with all the food available in Chinatown (very good duck at the shop near the apartment). The computer available at the apartment - very helpful! We enjoyed staying at Rick's apartment and would go back in we visit the city again.. Louise & Daniel

    Louise2013-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Rick's apartment was a ideal for our stay. It was clean, modern and very comfortable. The location is also ideal to easily get around a lot of San Fran by foot. I would highly recommend staying here and didn't find the street noise below an issue. Rick is very easy to deal with, gets back to queries promptly and helpful, and a great host. A real credit to Airbnb. Plus I highly recommend Yummy Yummy (one of the many chinese restaurants) which is just round the corner.

    Raphaelle2012-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • Rick's apartment is ideally situated at the edge of Chinatown, with easy access to North Beach - what more could you ask for in San Francisco? It is situated near the crossroads of Broadway, Columbus Av, and Grant, with good access to bus and cable car routes. Chinese, as well as Italian, restaurants and cafes are almost on the doorstep or a short walk away, The apartment is very comfortable and homely. We barely did any cooking (groceries in California are quite expensive compared to the UK), but it was very useful to be able to have our own breakfast and sometimes to make a packed lunch. Rick was a most courteous and accommodating host, and we were able to leave our luggage and retrieve it nearer the time of our flight. A number of reviewers mention the noise from the street - for which very effective earplugs are provided. For the first few nights we used these, but after that we found that we didn't need them as we had become used to the sounds. These are part and parcel of living in Chinatown, and we now miss them! (Well, maybe apart from the karaoke on some evenings.)

    Jacqueline2013-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • Clean apartment, nicely decorated. Good location, close to bus stops, and walking to shops. Noisy at night due to a bar nearby.

  • Wonderful stay at Mary’s place. She is thoughtful and very responsive. The home is immaculate, and the location is ideal for those looking to explore SF or be a short distance away from the Moscone convention center. Would definitely stay again!

    Ali2019-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • The room was large, clean, and bright. Mary's property is located close to the cable car, Chinatown, Financial District, and Union Square. Such a great location and the quality of the room would be enough for a 5-star review, but Mary's excellent hospitality really sets this place over the top! She was very prompt with her check-in/check-out instructions, gave us great recommendations on where to go, and went well out of her way to make sure we were comfortable. I would 100% recommend that others stay with Mary in her lovely home.

    Grace2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Mary’s place is absolutely amazing. And Mary is a wonderful host, very sweet, thorough, and quick responsive.

  • Room was spotless. Mary was very friendly. Short walk to local restaurants and bars.

    Angie2019-04-20T00:00:00Z
  • The host is very quick with responses and accommodating to the guest. The premise is in a very convenient location if you want to explore San Francisco downtown.

    Maryam2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Mary was extremely kind and hospitable. The room was lovely and she even helped me carry my way over-packed suitcase up and down all of the stairs! Sidenote - The stairs are a lot, it didn't bother me any but I would advise not bringing a heavy suitcase!

    Katrina2019-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • Mary's place is great. We had all that we needed and the common areas are a nice touch. Close proximity to so many SF gems - we walked everywhere. It can be a little hot on the top floor and slightly awkward to share a bathroom with other guests, but this is to be expected. I would recommend this place to anyone.

    Amanda2019-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • Mary’s home was beautiful, clean and convenient. Mary was a warm and responsive host. I will definitely be staying there again. The only challenge is the steep stairs - especially up to the 4th floor bedrooms. If you have large or heavy luggage or difficulty with stairs this home might not be the best choice for you.

  • Nando was a great host and the apartment is in an excellent location for doing touristy things around the city or for working in the FiDi area.

    Hayden2019-04-13T00:00:00Z
  • The location is amazing!!! The place was very clean. But please make sure to reserve the garage and for Nando to answer if he doesn’t answer you do not have the garage reserved. Also Nando sleeps downstairs with a curtain separation and you can hear absolutely everything in the house just an FYI. But overall it’s a good place.

    Luisa2019-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay of three nights in Nando‘s house. The location is great and offers amazing views over the bay. The check-in was incredibly easy and Nando was always quick to answer us. Thank you for letting us stay with you!

  • Nando’s place was just above all my expectations! His place is so well located in North Beach, closed to bars and restaurants but in a quiet street. Apartment and room were very clean and spacious, backyard is just awesome. Thanks again to Nando and Alice for your awesome hospitality, flexibility for my arrival and departure time, and of course thanks a lot for the super dinner we shared, I will definitely come back! • If you get the loft room, there are no mirrors in the lower bedroom level so you have to drag your things up the staircase to the bathroom level. It’s a cute idea but not very practical. Also, the bed frame has a built in light that never shuts off.

  • Katie was the perfect host and super accommodating throughout our stay. My boyfriend and I absolutely loved Katie's clean and cool apartment -- the place was super homey and comfortable which was exactly what we wanted for our San Fran visit. The apartment had an amazing view of the city and it was also close to many attractions so we got some great walking in! Can't wait to go back!

    Christina2016-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • Katie’s place is in a great location- conveniently located from many restaurants, bars and other touristy spots. Katie gave some great suggestions on local eateries and bars as well. The apartment was cozy and tidy. The neighbors were a bit noisy at times but settled down at night. Katie was very responsive to any questions during our stay. Overall great place to stay in SF!

    Rachel2019-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Stellar response time, very sweet homey apartment, much bigger than the pictures made it seem. Location really can’t be beat for authentic sf experience

    Luz2018-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • As an on again, off again host, I can tell you this place is what Airbnb was originally meant to be. It’s obvious that Katie and her man are living here, trust you to respect their valued belongings, and are simply sharing their treasure of a home. The parking is a rarity, the location outstanding, and decorations warm and inviting as if you are crashing at a friends place while they are out of town. If you are looking for a hotel experience look elsewhere and you shouldn’t be on this site in the first place. Thanks guys for sharing your home with us.

Welcome to our home for budget-minded students, interns and J-1 work abroad participants visiting San Francisco for 1 to 6 months. Unlike other shared houses on Airbnb that crowd many housemates into the same room, here you will have just one roommate. The atmosphere here is friendly, social and international. You should be flexible, open to sharing, and have a high level of understanding and tolerance to cultures and customs that are different than your own.
Our home was created to encourage as much interaction between housemates as possible and still provide students with more quiet and privacy than is possible in a hostel. However there still is a lot of dynamic social atmosphere in our house. Our two person rooms are shared with other housemates of the same gender, unless opposite gender roommates have agreed to share. Unlike a hostel, the rooms have a desk, drawers an space to spread out, decorate, and make your temporary home feel comfortable. Housemates enjoy a free high speed internet Wi-Fi, a fully equipped kitchen, private bathrooms and laundry facilities. There's also a community common lounge with comfy sofas, chairs and community desks. Many of us also usually chip in and enjoy one weekly community meal together. We offer flexible and affordable monthly rates. This is month-to-month rental accommodation so a housemate request application and credit check is required. New housemates pay for at least one month to start. But unlike other homes, that require a fixed term contract, here you always have the option of checking out early, if your plans change. Please contact us for more details on this. We hope you will contact us for further information.
  • A very good spot to stay 2 months but you have to pay for the laundry and the internet connection are very slow.

    Lucas2019-05-11T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great experience at the homestay! I was from the midwest and knew absolutely no one in the bay area. Since I had so many fun roommates from around the world, I instantly had 12 friends in the city. Shelly did a great job taking care of the house, and it was really fun getting to know everyone. Darren did a great job maintaining the house if there ever was a problem. I look forward to coming back sometime!

    Ross Wagner2011-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • Shelli's Haus is just an incredible place to stay if you are lucky enough to find an open slot. There are kitchen facilities, laundry facilities, 2 showers, and plenty of places to study/lounge around. The best part about the homestay is the people: all other students/interns just as eager as you are to explore the city. For those of you interested in staying with Shelli, I should mention that there is a very reasonable $40 monthly cleaning fee added to the monthly stay once you get to the house. Shelli is wonderful and takes care of all of it!

    Akhil2012-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Shelli is a great host, and the homestay is in a very convenient location. In addition, many students from all over the world live in the space, so it's a fantastic home to stay in while exploring SF.

    Will2017-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • I loved living at Shelli's house. I met an amazing and diverse group of people who are like family. The house itself is super conducive to socialization, and it's very well situated close to central bart stations. The whole city is accessible not to mention the awesome food of Chinatown. Definitely the biggest plus of living at Shelli's would be all the interesting and vibrant people who lived there. Thanks for a fantastic summer, see you in 'frisco soon!

    Olivia2013-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • Shelly was our host and made sure I had everything I needed and was an excellent resource on the neighborhood whenever I had a question about it. Despite there being 12 guests, there are 3 floors, 2 full bathrooms and one 1/2 bathroom, everyone has their own desk/bureau setup and only ONE roommate so there is remarkably plenty of space and most everyone is a student or doing an internship so most times the house is pretty empty. The neighborhood has everything you need (for cheap! Hey, it's chinatown...) and nearby, and thehouse is pretty centrally located in the city, so work, eating out and shopping are close. The street is quiet since it's not a main street, so hardly any traffic, and the view from the rooftop is great. Would definitely recommend.

This is a Private Room located on the edge of North Beach and China Town. Very close to Downtown, China Town, North Beach and Fishermans Wharf. Great location!
Location is key, this spot is central to almost everywhere in SF. The apartment is shared with another renter, bathroom is also shared. The room has some closet space, dresser space, a TV with an HDMI cable and Chrome Cast.
Good neighborhood, great local bars and restaurants. You're in the heart of the Italian and Chinese districts. North Star is my favorite local bar.
  • Great value for this apartment. Perfect location, you can go every where by walk in the east part of SF, you can go to supermarket by walk too and there are many restaurants near like Italian or Chinese . However ever the cleanliness was very bad, when I arrived I'm sure that the houseworks was not done. There were many dust in the room and concerning the common area the cleanliness is inexistant like in the kitchen there were stain of fat. Also the dust is everywhere too. I think cleanliness is extremely important when you spend 2 months. An other problem concerns the bedroom door that you can't closed because it's broken, so from the owner, you just have to put a bag behind the door to closed it. For the sleep it's a calm neighborhood so you will just hear the nearest traffic road. The heater work hard so I opened the windows many times to have more fresh air it's maybe good for winter but not for summer. That's a great location apartment for spending travel stay.

    Romain2019-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • Pete was an awesome host! Pete provided a lot of amenities and I got lots of privacy. The location is short Uber ride/walk from all the places I needed to be downtown.

    Kitty2015-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Pete's place from Oct 2018 - Dec 2018. I really wish I could give this place a higher rating and though I had a less than stellar experience I would still recommend this place to others for short stays. I'll start with the positives. The apartment was fairly clean and the kitchen had sufficient supplies. The location is in the Chinatown area which though not the cleanest is still safe. I found the location very convenient as it was within walking distance to my work. It's also about a 20-30min walk to Union Square and Fisherman's Wharf. There is a girl who lives there though there was very little communication between her and I. There was enough space in the fridge and cupboards to fit any food you might buy. Unfortunately, the sleeping situation was bad. In about mid-November, what I'm guessing is the heating pipes started to become active. From then on at around 9pm and 6am, there was an incessant and surprisingly loud banging/popping noise coming from directly below the room. I would guess it was the heating pipes expanding/contracting at these times. I had to adjust my sleeping schedule around these times as it was nigh-impossible to sleep when the pipes banged. Overall, I did not have a good stay due to the noisy sleeping situation. However, I would recommend this place for short stays as the location is very central.

    Jordan2018-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Pete was very friendly. The room was great and everything is within walking distance. 1 thing to keep in mind: if you are a light sleeper, be sure to bring ear plugs / sleeping mask.

    Maxim2015-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • Staying with Pete was a breeze. He was flexible about check in time and the room was charming and quiet. Was perfect for a business stay. Thanks Pete!

    Kira2015-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Pete was a great host! He was very responsive to any issues that came up and accommodating if they were any inconvenience.

    Jake2017-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Pete was a great host, quick to respond to messages, made me feel at home. His place was very clean and simple, great location for seeing the city, neighborhood was very quiet.

    River2015-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • The room was great and Pete was a fantastic host. Most of the time he wasn't there but he arranged everything, so that I had smooth arrival and he replied instantly to my messages. Description of the place is accurate. It's centrally located. It's on the edge between Chinatown and Nob Hill. Walgreens, Chinese shops and restaurants, banks, everything is in close distance. 19 min walking to the Powell BART station. I enjoyed my stay here!

Adjacent to North Beach is colorful and lively Chinatown and fun access to Fisherman's Wharf by way of historic cable cars.
  • Greg was available, very friendly and helpful. The neighbourhood was safe and close to everything and the room was large and bright. The only thing was the bathroom: it could have used a coat of paint and a clean.

  • We hadn't had the chance to meet Irina, but Greg was there to take care of us. The room was very nice, and really looking like the pictures ! The apartment is in a very nice neighborhood with lots of bar and restaurants ! Easy access to lots of Bus lines and 5 to 10 minutes by walk to the piers ! Greg has been very helpful and kind with us ! Giving us some tips and advices ! And because our plane was late in the afternoon and the room was also booked the day we left, he accepted very kindly to keep our bagages so we could enjoy the city our last day ! It was a very pleasant stay !

  • Hello everyone, I enjoyed my stay with Irina and Gregg. It was a great experience to live in the heart of busy North Beach Section of town with several great restaurants just a few footsteps away. Grocery shopping was easy, as there were a few organic food stores just across the street. There was not scarcity of great coffee houses and restaurants so close to home. I enjoyed the apartment: the entire apartment was clean and orderly, there was just one more guest besides myself which keeps noise level low. Many thanks go out to Irina and Gregg for making this a memorable experience.

  • Very good location for this place, close to Little Italy, China Town, Coït Tower and Fisherman's Wharf. The hosts are very friendly, they like to discuss and to give suggestions about what to do in the neighborhood. The room is convenient and clean and quiet with a nice view on the street and the Transamerica Tower.

  • Clean, simple accommodations. Perfect if you're really just looking for a place to sleep after a day of exploring the city. Place was pretty clean. The only small gripe would be the shower. The shower head is pretty low which meant I had to duck while showering lol. I can't imagine how my boyfriend felt. Irina was a bit difficult to get in contact with, but turns out she was in the east coast when we got there. Luckily her roommate Greg was able to get us situated. He seemed so surprised to see us when we showed up. Not sure if he knew to expect our arrival. The location of this place was what I really loved the most. It was ideal in accordance of our activities planned for our 4 day stay in San Francisco.

    Amanda2015-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed one short night at Irina's place. We didn't meet her in person, but were welcomed by her housemate Greg. He was very nice, gave us advice (recommended us a very nice burger place nearby, "Mo's"). The house is a bit old, but very well located, in the Italian area, and 20min walk from Fisherman's wharf, which is very convenient. Filbert steps and the coit tower are very close as well. The room was clean, and quite spacious. One bathroom to share in the house. We highly recommend Irina's place.

This place is in the heart of downtown being in Nob Hill. It’s very close to many shops restaurants and the huge Westfield mall where you can get almost anything. It’s also conveniently placed near the bart station, many bus routes and the cable car lines. It’s a few blocks from union square. The neighbor hood in general is very clean for a city.
  • The place was exactly like described on the pictures. The location is very central and Mary has been extremely helpful and flexible with all the queries. Highly recommended!

  • A beautiful, well-kept place in San Francisco near Chinatown. Be sure to use an Uber instead of renting a car. It's less stress driving around town. If you need snacks, drinks, amenities, etc., there's a J&W Market right across the street, or you can use Uber Eats and have them deliver food. I would definitely stay here again because, other than the convenience of the area, Mary is super nice and accommodating, responds right away, and she will also make you feel at home.

    Jessica2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • This place is in a great location for a reasonable price. Mary was friendly and very accommodating, responding to requests/ inquiries quickly. Coffee and snacks were available in shared dining area, blow dryer, shampoo/ conditioner and body wash were provided. Two things I didn't consider were an iron and in warmer times of year the windows need to opened which may get a bit loud. Otherwise, everything was great.

    Estee2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • It was amazing room. The atmosphere was good and easy to access for center of the city. Of course it’s clean, useful amenities.

  • As advertised. Bright, clean, comfortable and upscale. Enjoyed my 4 nights of being a San Franciscan. Very easy walking to business areas and tourist areas.

  • Eddie’s place made us feel at home. Self check-in was very easy. Instructions were clear. Bed is very comfortable. Room and bathroom are spacious. The place is actually in Chinatown that on our first two nights, we ended up eating Chinese food for dinner at this really good claypot place which is just 2 blocks down the road. My wife and I had some concerns though. Communication on the day we arrived was less than ideal. We had some questions but only got a response the next day. One of the questions was not even answered. We were also concerned about the security of our things since our room didn’t have a key so we could not lock it when we were away. There were other guests in the unit. Finally, on our last day, found out that the lock code for the door to the unit already expired when it was only 9am (check out time is at 11am). Good thing my wife stayed while I was out to buy breakfast. Otherwise, we would have been both locked out of the unit on our last day. The overall experience though is still good. There was always coffee available (keurig coffeemaker) and the place is very clean. Love the view of the Bay from the balcony. Would still recommend Eddie’s place but I hope our feedback is taken well for improvement.

    Mervin2019-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is a shared space with two other rooms. Although it’s described on the site, know this is the case. The location is stellar! The unit is newly updated and well maintained.

  • Eddie’s place is very nice in terms of location. You can access to anywhere in downtown on foot.

  • Our stay was AMAZING. The House was clean with lively decorations. The location is extremely convenient as well. I won’t hesitate to choose eddie’s for future stays in San Francisco

  • I travel to SF frequently for work and have stayed in many AirBnBs, and this was definitely my favorite so far. The room was spotless and very comfortable, the on-suite bathroom was absolutely perfect. The place is newly refinished in a thoughtful and comfortable way. The location is great - I enjoyed being in Chinatown, and it was easy walking distance from many things. Check in and out could not have been easier. I absolutely hope to be able to stay here again in the future.

    Sarah2018-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is smart, comfortable and well located. We enjoyed a relaxing week there. The cable car stops on the corner and we found a lovely Italian Restaurant four blocks down the street. Another lady came to stay whilst we were there, fortunately she was very pleasant. A manual on nearby restaurants and local shops etc would have been helpful. We did not meet our Host. Mary

  • This was supposed to be a Boutique Hotel but the service at the desk and the associated parking was very unprofessional. Especially when we arrived with the car, we were told we cannot keep the car in front of the hotel just to check-in. They asked us to pay for an hour which was the minimum for $10. When I gave them my credit card, the guy rolled his eyes and said he cannot accept the card and given I had not already checked in yet, there is no room to charge me against. He was behaving as if I was creating this impossible scenarios which was making his job hard. Irrespective to the process holes that should be fixed, the behaviour from the staff in such a high end hotel was unprofessional to say the least. On top while checking out from the hotel, I noticed they ended up charging me for 4 hours of parking which was bizarre as I left the hotel immediately after the check-in and had photos time marked on the places I visited after we left the hotel that day with our car. The hotel finally dropped these fees all together and apologized.

Its all about the views. We are a back building in a funky North Beach / Telegraph Hill complex. Very safe, very secluded. The apartment downstairs is empty (and will remain so). You basically have the building to yourself.
The entrance is on Vallejo, following a long breezeway to the back. You will feel like you've entered a time warp back to old SF. The outside of the building is NOrth Beach "ramshackle" but the inside of the apt is charming and warm Exposed wood floors. large galley kitchen, single room with exposed ceiling timbers makes this feel like a loft.
Its North Beach! Grant st. is 2 blocks away, broadway, 1 block. there is a LOT of action nearby. Cafe Trieste on the corner of Grant and Vallejo is THE local morning (noon and night) hang for the local color. The Vallejo garden steps just outside the front door are a common destination for visitors. The neighbors are all very friendly and social, frequently sitting stoopside enjoying evening cocktails. Introduce yourself and join in!

    Dale2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • From the outside the Petite Auberge is a narrow, unassuming building; once inside it feels like a home away from home. The building is old but very well maintained, serviced, and all areas are clean. Breakfast is delicious and nutritious. While it is not a huge buffet, it is good quality and there is everything there to satisfy any palate. The fruit is freshly cut and offers a great variety, and the soda bread is awesome. Unfortunately we only made it to one Happy Hour but the nibbles and vino really hit the spot, and it was nice to meet other guests and hear their tales. Our room was towards the back of the hotel, so generally quiet. There was a little bit of street noise of an evening but certainly nothing that carried on too late or too loud. Don't discount the bathtub which may appear small. Trust me, it is the perfect size to relax in after a day of hiking SF's hills. All the staff we interacted with were very helpful and friendly, both prior to our arrival and during our stay. They gave great advice re: airport transport and even accepted a parcel delivery for me prior to my stay. Finally, the location is awesome - easy walk (well SF hill easy) to many "must see" locations including Union Square, Fisherman's Wharf, and China Town and easy access to a major cable car cross-road (and the Cable Car museum) or other public transport. We ended up taking taxis a few times and never paid more than $11 to get anywhere. Fabulous restaurants in walking distance! Thank you very much to everyone at Petite Auberge - I'll be back!

The newly remodeled bedroom is located in my totally remodeled 6 bedroom 6 bath unit It's just one block from the Top of Nob Hill where the Fairmont, Mark Hopkins, and Huntington hotels are located and a short stroll to Union Square, Chinatown and several other popular amenities. Each room has its own private en-suite bathroom and electronic lock for added privacy and convenience, Wi-Fi, fresh towels and linens, smart TV, desk, etc.
  • Accomodation and location are perfect. Close to everything. Highly recommended staying here. Jessica is a great host, extremely helpful and very generous

  • Perfect place to stay. Quiet, centrally located, clean, very responsive hosts, and great amenities!

    Lauren2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Look no further if you want a centrally located, clean and comfortable place to stay while in San Francisco. Airbnb can be hit or miss but Jessica's place definitely lived up to expectations and importantly, matched the description given online. I'm not sure you'll find a better place in Nob Hill or indeed San Francisco.

  • The location is excellent!only 15 minutes to union square. Jessica is very patient to answer any questions.

    Ruiqi2017-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet street although just a 10min walk from Union Square and Chinatown. Clean and cosy too:)

    Yi Jia2018-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place and great hospitality with lots of small nice details and good suggestions for local cafes /restaurants! The only problem is the noise of the people coming in/out or on the first floor some times but that is not so bad to not recommend it! All in all I had a great time and would definitely recommend it!

  • Mary’s apartment is wonderfully appointed and well positioned in San Francisco. My stay there is one of my most pleasant. Mary is a generous and very responsive host. Her house is full of very considerate and thoughtful touches. She also makes a point of greeting her guests in person, even with me arriving after 11:30pm from the airport. I was on Level 4 - the room is very large and the bed is super comfortable. I didn’t have any issues with the guests that I shared the bathroom with. It’s really conveniently designed with the bathroom accessible via both bedrooms. Despite the steep steps between levels 3 and 4, Mary will help with luggage and ensure that you’re able to navigate them safely. Mary is also wonderful providing much needed advice on where to go for places to visit or to eat. It’s a place I will definitely return to and I have no hesitation in recommending Mary’s apartment as a place to stay.

    Sharon2019-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful time! Perfect location

    Erica2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • This was a very nice room! Mary was there for my check in and showed me around the room and the other amenities she offered as well. Room and jack and Jill bathroom were super clean. The room gets a ton of natural sunlight. There is no A/C but there is a fan and the balcony has a screen door for some fresh air if need.

    Stephen2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place..very clean..only neg was the wifi!

    Alfred2019-05-17T00:00:00Z
  • Mary is very nice and responsive! The place was very clean. The shared bathroom worked well until a new guest arrived.

    Irene2019-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • Mary's penthouse suite is lovely and sparkling clean. The room is spacious with lots of natural light. Mary also provides basic breakfast items (eggs, fruit, cereal, etc.) - a lovely surprise, especially as I was traveling for work and on the go early in the morning. This was a wonderful alternative to a hotel - comparable quality at a much lower price. Only thing to note is that the bathroom on the top floor is shared with another suite.

    Megan2019-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • I can’t recommend Mary’s home highly enough! Not only is the house charming and beautiful (with all original hard wood floors), but Mary is a wonderful, kind, and generous host. She is warm and welcoming, and happy to sit and chat with you in the kitchen, but she also understands and respects if you would like privacy/ alone time. Mary is incredibly responsive, and easily reached by messaging her. The room itself was wonderful and huge! It is immaculately clean, equipped with a mini kitchen (sink, microwave & mini fridge) TV, insanely comfortable bed, and a jack and Jill bathroom that you may potentially share with one other guest. I had a great time staying at Mary’s house, and wish I could have stayed longer!

    Kelsea2019-05-17T00:00:00Z
  • Staying with Mary was wonderful. She is there to greet you on arrival and shows how everything work. The bed was so comfortable and everything was provided. She also made sure to let me know there was an umbrella when it was raining. I will stay with her again if I come back!

This extraordinary single family home nestled on a quiet cul-de-sac on Telegraph Hill is a relaxing retreat in the heart of the City. Windows and skylights make the interior bright and cheerful. The entertaining floor features rich wood floors, exposed wood beams, open floor plan with an eat-in remodeled kitchen. French doors lead from the kitchen to the rear, sunny garden patio perfect for alfresco dining.
The home has been extensively renovated and has 2 full baths. A sweeping open stair leads upstairs. You are walking distance to some of the best San Francisco has to offer: North Beach, Jackson Square, Embarcadero, the Ferry Building and Financial District.
The house is located two blocks from the waterfront.
  • Nice location close to many attractions and areas. We had however few issues with mosquitos in the room as we had to keep the windows opened for air circulation. The bed mattress could also be replaced.

  • Nando is an excellent host and his place is great- well located, clean, and spacious. I look forward to staying at this property again the next time I am in SF.

  • Great location and the private room has an amazing view!

    Fred2019-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Nando's place was a very unique home, and a great place for me to set up camp while in town for a business trip. I don't need much when traveling for work, just a comfortable bed, a bathroom/shower, and a place to store my luggage; Nando's place checked all the boxes! The location was also great, within easy walking distance of lots of great restaurants as well as downtown SF. Would definitely stay again!

    Nick2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • 100% recommend. It is extra to park ($38 a day) and the garage is very small and barely fit my car. Also, we not told the place was in an alley. However, the room was amazing and Nando was very nice.

    Marissa2019-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic time! The home is on a beautiful street with a clear view of the Bay bridge, beautiful patio, and gorgeous bedroom and bath with big windows. It was easy and comfortable in a cute and clean neighborhood. And Nando was very responsive and helpful!

    Chloe2018-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Nando's place in an excellent location and he is an excellent host. His place is clean, well appointed, and spacious. And you can't beat the location.

Also available unfurnished for longer term or as a 2br using the living as the 2nd bedroom. please inquire. This is a newly redone apt with lots of light It is a 1Br with an adjoined kitchen / dining / living space. The east facing views of the Bay bridge and North Beach / Embarcadero / Financial District are wonderful, especially at night with the Bay Lights Project. There is a shared outdoor space just outside the front door. There is a washer / dryer shared with 2 other of our apartments
This is a first floor unit in a very quiet neighborhood. We have just redone it, everything is brand new as of 2/25/2017. It has a nice cozy bedroom, great for sleeping. The common area is very clean in decor with tremendous views towards downtown, the Embarcadero and the Bay bridge. There is a sofa bed that can best accomodate a single person. We prefer to rent to 2 people but can accomodate 3 people if a shorter rental. The kitchen / dining area seats 4, has a full galley kitchen with dishwasher, range, micro, garbage disposal and full size fridge. There is electric baseboard heat for those occasionally chilly SF days and nights. There is a modest outdoor seating area, a shared washer and dryer 10 feet from the front door and places to store bikes and other sporting equipment if you are here for adventure.
North Beach Original! Our end of the street is a cul de sac. Everyone knows each other and frequently hang out for wine in the evenings. You'll quickly find yourself feeling like a local. The street outside the main door is a walking stepped garden. You will find both locals and tourists hanging around but you wont find noisy cars. Its very quiet and peaceful.
  • This is a great apartment. The view of the bay and bridge are spectacular; even better than in the photos. Its a great neighborhood, which is lively but the house is in a quiet spot with respectful neighbors. The steps facing the bay are pretty serious; but there's a beautiful view from them and you can actually take a car really close to the outside entrance, which just leaves a few flights to walk up. I hope that I have the chance to return some time!

    Danny2018-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • A top 10% view of SF... maybe even higher. As other reviewers said, a lot of steps and a big hill, but it was always worth it. Thanks Tommy!

    Alex2018-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing sunny apartment with an incredible view of the bay. The apartment had everything I needed for my 1 month stay, including laundry. The kitchen was well equipped and I was cooked quite a few meals. The walk to the apartment is steep but manageable. Thomas was very responsive and kind. I'll miss my nightly glass of wine and watching the moon rise over the Bay Bridge, who needs a TV. Highly recommend and will definitely be back.

    Linda2018-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • The view from Tommy's apartment is second-to-none and wowed us every day. The apartment is well-located in SF's North Beach (albeit up some steep hills!) and surrounded by amazing restaurants, bars and shops. Tommy was very responsive and was quick to address any questions or issues we had. We were very sad to leave and will certainly miss the place.

    Jevan2018-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • If you are visiting San Francisco, this is the place to stay. Having previously lived in San Francisco in my past I can confidently say that the view, location, and apartment itself made for an outstanding experience. I work from home so it's important to me that space is clean, comfortable and has a nice view. All expectations in this regard were exceeded. I also cook from home and all of the kitchen essentials were available making it very easy for me. The location is a block away from all the best bars, cafes and restaurants North Beach has to offer. When I come back to San Francisco this apartment will forever be my first choice. Also, Tom was an excellent host. Really cool guy and very accommodating.

    Michael2018-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Thomas is a great person. Was always reacting to our messages within a couple moments. The tips he provided through the check-in process were great to explore North Beach. The view to Bay Bridge will be remembered forever. We had the luck to experience twice fireworks just by sitting on the couch.

    Hardy2018-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • I can’t express how beautiful and refreshing waking up to the beautiful bay bridge. Thomas was very helpful as well as Dennis. I would definitely stay again. I’ll just make sure to work out first. The hills are no joke!
