A new and unique addition to the self catering scene in the tradition crofting and fishing village of Uig. The Shepherds Hut offers a luxury standard of self catering accommodation. It is only a five minute walk from the pier where ferries depart to the Outer Hebrides. An ideal base for touring the many sites around Skye. Your hosts family have a connection going back many generations and will be happy to help you get the most from your vacation. We look forward to welcoming you to Skye.
“The shepherds hut is a stylish, spotless and comfy space with great views over the bay at Uig. All the amenities you might need have been thoughtfully included in a space that whilst not big is well thought out and practical. The bed is super comfy although one person needs to be ok with being on the far side of the bed access - wise. The bathroom is very compact but has a lovely hot shower. The tablet (fudge) and shortbread Irene left for us were delicious and Ian is a mine of information about walks on the island . There is a great pub, The Ferry Inn which does fab food, a 15 minute walk away and a little store which sells delicious cheese and organic bread as well as all the usual necessities and local produce. We had the most amazing sunset and also got to sit out on the bench in the sunshine , not bad for late September. Go, you will not regret it .”
This self catering property is ideally located in the quiet village of Earlish on the A87, approx 14 miles from Portree, the main town on the island. It is 3 miles from Uig where there is a post office/shop, filling station/shop, hotel and pubs.
“If you I could give this place and experience 7 stars I would. Joan was the most gracious host, lovely to chat with and the warmest of human beings, with a heart of gold. Check in was seamless with Joan there to welcome us. The house was very comfortable, everything one could require and more was there. Not only was the house super clean but charmingly done up. I love the little dream catcher on top of the bed. Also loved the bedroom with the skylight... we could see the Milky Way and the stars from it sitting on our bed. The view from the kitchen window is great too. The house is superbly situated but yet just that comfortable distance away from the tourist epicentre. There is a pub down the road but unfortunately we didn’t get a chance to eat there. It’s a romantic, cosy house perfect for 2 people and a lovely spot to explore Skye from. This was the best Airbnb experience we have ever had. Wish we could have stayed on here much longer, if we ever come back to Skye we would definitely want to stay with Joan again.”
We offer a comfortable self-contained area comprising a bedroom with double bed, a private bathroom and lobby/breakfast area. Free wifi. We are handy for the Uig ferry and a couple of good restaurants, and close to the Fairy Glen. It's a short walk down to the beach with a chance of seeing otters and sea eagles. The spectacular views, the location and the wildlife all make this a great base for exploring the north end of the island. It's good for couples and solo adventurers. Check in from 5pm.
“Nick and Gill's home is a nice place to stay before catching the ferry. The space is private, and the hosts were available to answer questions or help, but also maintained a quiet distance. Washer and dryer are available to use for a small donation, and self service breakfast options were varied and plentiful. A wonderful notebook of local tips is available for guests as well. Very kind people.”
