Holiday houses in Downtown Des Moines

Two of us in town for a memorial service and gathering of friends. The place was great-perfect size-two bedrooms worked for us perfectly-cute place. Minor point is a bathroom typical of these little homes, with a toilet literally right next to the tub/shower with only an inch or two to spare on the sides-made for some interesting "negotiating!" But as I said, this is minor. Shower great! Located in a great neighborhood, peaceful, safe to walk, close to a mall and restaurants etc. Be aware there is a basement tenant- took us by surprise but that was because we didn't read the description fully! They were super quiet and we barely knew anyone else was there. Their apartment is separate from the unit. Definitely recommend the place and Josh was quick to respond to any questions we had. Great front porch for sitting and watching the world, lots of windows, good linens and towels, extra blankets, easy on street parking., Keurig, so very quiet-we would rent again in a heartbeat....

This was one of our favorite Air B&Bs ever! The house was perfectly clean, with a charming and relaxing decor. We all loved the game room. They have a fun variety of games and even an 80's style tabletop arcade console with dozens of throwback video games available. My favorite was Miss Pac-Man. There are cards & a poker set & table. Plus there are some really fun board games and puzzles. My mother-in-law just enjoyed sitting at the clean, comfortable poker table and visiting. The game room vibe is just right! The theater room is amazing, and can be used for an extra bedroom if need be. However, there are five other beds available so plenty of sleeping spots. The location was great - about 1 mile from a grocery store & gas station, walking distance from Wasabi and a short drive to countless other bars & restaurants as well as Valley Junction. The kitchen had great appliances including a fancy air-fryer and a Keurig. We will definitely stay here again. Many thanks to our hosts!

Absolutely loved our stay at The Ankeny Getaway! The location was perfect—just a short walk or bike ride to trails, parks, restaurants, and shopping. The house was spotless, meeting high hotel standards, which we really appreciated. Our hosts went above and beyond, leaving us coffee and muffins, and the range of games available, including a super fun pingpong table, added a lot of enjoyment to our stay. Check-in was a breeze, and everything about our experience was top-notch. Can’t wait to return! Highly recommend this gem.

My husband and I stayed at Casey's place for 9 days. We chose this place because it looked very relaxing and picturesque. The home and surroundings did not disappoint. The living room walls have many very large windows. It is so relaxing to sit and look at the beautiful scenery or a lightning storm. We found the home to be the perfect size for the two of us, but ample space to have many of my Iowa family members over for socialization and dinner. So many airbnbs we visit lack the necessary amenities (such as hangers, enough dinnerware, cooking utensils, etc). Not this place. There was nothing we needed to go out and buy ourselves (except our food). However, we found in the fridge pastries for the first two mornings :) . If you stay at Casey's place, you don't need to worry about it not being clean to your standards. Casey and Jenn take pride in maintaining a clean and beautiful home. If you have questions about anything, Casey is always quick to respond. Thank you Casey&Jenn!

It was amazing and definitely worth! I will definitely be back and I have already told all of my friends about it! He was an amazing host and the house was very clean! Can’t wait to go back!

Absolutely loved how cozy, and peaceful Tiffani’s place was. Very clean we felt right at home. Will definitely stay again if shed have us.

Colby’s Instructions were very helpful and clearly written it’s obvious he is very experienced. The house was beautiful plenty of space to sit, sleep, and eat and in a quiet spot. The amenities were great having a dumpster there was very helpful multiple fridges and plenty of parking. The barn was very cool my guests were not expecting anything like that, we all had a lot of fun and had no problems keeping the place clean and following the rules.
