Holiday rentals with lake access in Dare County

We could not have enjoyed our stay any more than we did. The house was well stocked and clean. Pool and hot tub were clean and well maintained as well. The neighborhood is quiet and within a short distance to many local attractions and restaurants. Would definitely stay here again if we find ourselves back in the area. Thank you!!

Beautiful home above a garage surrounded by amazing oak trees. Very quiet. Not directly on the water but easily accessible with access on the dock, kayaks, and paddle board. Kids and I enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others. Close to beach and good restaurants.

Stayed during a duck hunt and worked out perfect. Everything with the house was as listed. Check in was easy and instructions were clear.

Janelle and Adrian are absolutely wonderful hosts. Their home is beautiful and perfect. In every way the second you walk in you feel like you are on vacation and you don’t wanna leave. We actually extended our stay because the house was so beautiful and the location of the home was so perfect that we Just needed that one more night before we were ready to say goodbye. They are so quick to respond if you have a problem with anything and they immediately fix it for you I will never use any other Airbnb again when traveling to that area.

This was our second time staying at Joyful Dolphins and it’s a great fit for our active family of four. The bikes were a hit and the host was helpful and responsive when we had a couple of questions. We love the easy access to the trail along the sound. The beds were comfortable and we appreciated and the additional blankets since the evenings were cool. Thank you for a great spring break trip!

Shelia, We loved your house! Our family enjoyed an Easter egg hunt in the yard. Your decor is so spa like. It allows your beautiful views to be the focus. Your deck and the views are so relaxing. We did not want to leave!

We had a great stay, and highly recommend this space! Vjollca was exceptionally responsive and helpful. It was a great perk to be able to park under cover and walk right into the unit. It’s a cozy little space perfect for two!

Really enjoyed the condo it was a perfect base camp for a variety of activities in the OBX. There was a well stocked kitchen which was great as we did a lot of home meals. The condo was nicely decorated, and the beds were super comfy! James was easy to contact and communicated back quickly if asked a question. Was a great stay.

Thomas’s place was perfect! Very relaxing, quiet, and serene. I enjoyed the view overlooking the water. The apartment had everything that I needed to feel at home. I do wish there was a TV in the bedroom, but other than that it definitely earned a 5-star review!

My wife and I stayed with our two kids and my parents (and their dog) and had a great time! The house is cozy but comfortable for 6, with a good amount of living space including a very nice sunroom. Amy was friendly and helpful in our communications and proactive at checking how things were going, and helped ensure we had a nice stay the whole time. Staying on the sound was beautiful, especially the sunsets. The house is right on a great multiuse path which is perfect for walking or biking to the nearby coffee shop or for exercise. Grocery stores and restaurants are close too, as are destinations like Jockey's Ridge and the Wright Brothers memorial. Two little things that made me happy were walking past the Muscadine vine in the front yard, and the color of the mailbox: a light blue which made it unique and easy to find when driving down an unfamiliar street. If your group is the right size for it, Safe and Sound is a great place to stay, and Amy is an excellent host!

Another fantastic Spring Break at the Best Box! The nicest, cleanest, most relaxing rental we’ve ever found. Didn’t think the property could be any better than it was last year, but the owners have managed to make many creative and thoughtful upgrades. Enjoyed days at the beach, days on the sound, chartered a boat for fishing, ate tons of seafood, and saw the best sunsets right from the deck. Literally took advantage of everything in this house - from crabbing to fishing to baggo to flying kites to playing board games to darts and foosball. Oh and kayaking, relaxing in the hammock, and tubing, too.

This cottage was perfect for our family's spring break trip. It was peaceful, quiet, and a quick walk to the beach! The cottage itself was wonderful--clean, decorated wonderfully, and surprisingly spacious!

We enjoyed our stay and found the home well equipped. The turtles are fun to watch. This is a very unique home and a short walk to the beach. We would stay there again!

Great house and great host. Had to make a last second change from a previous house we were staying in and Michelle was able to fit us in the night we asked and even before our allotted time. Made sure we had everything we needed and was always responsive. Very appreciative for her and her flexibility. Home was clean and had everything we needed. Would recommend to stay here.

Our family loved spending the week here! The incredible kitchen is so well stocked and fun to cook in, the beds are all very comfortable, and the location is great - easy beach access and beautiful views. It’s walkable to a lovely coffee shop and movement studio, and close to any and all amenities you may need while still feeling private.

We totally understand and agree with Tanya being listed as a Super Host with 5+Stars! From making the reservation until checkout, Tanya made certain that we had absolutely everything we could possibly need for our stay, from extra toiletries, beach towels, sunscreen and even a sewing kit! She is responsive to messages, provides tips and suggestions on trips, places to visit and local restaurants! The house is pristine yet feels like home! We will definitely be making many more trips and this will be our “ home away from home!”

We have been going to the Duck area for 15ish years. This was our first time on the sound. We enjoyed the privacy of the area and the sound/sunset views. The beach for the access pass is nice. They list some good restaurant options but if you like to fix your own meals, fresh fish can be had at Dockside n Duck. It’s a regular morning visit for us. Enjoy the place!
