Pet-friendly holiday rentals in Cumberland County

Our son, his girlfriend, my husband and I enjoyed staying at the cottage in late October 2024. The location was quite scenic as it overlooked Casco Bay, near Portland, ME. The host made suggestions that we followed (bringing firewood & blankets). The kitchen was equipped with utensils & coffeemakers. The neighborhood was quiet. We enjoyed walking in the local preserve along the water and took advantage of visiting the Portland Museum of Art and eating at The Honey Paw, an Asian fusion restaurant.

This is the 2nd time I've stayed at Emma's place. I came both times for a workshop and ceremony that took place in both Freeport and in Portland. Drives to Portland were the longest, and not too taking, and I chose to stay at Emma's place BECAUSE of the way the house holds me: the spaciousness, the attention to art and wisdom, the lighting and unfussy-yet-design-inspired furniture choices, the plant life, the textures and colors: all these things are soothing and welcoming. It was a pleasure to drive "home" exhausted, knowing what it feels like to open that back door.

It's a beautiful, little house, perfect for our needs. Great view from the backyard over the water. Being close to Rt 1 made all of the places we wanted to visit very accessible. The binder with places to eat and their menus made things much easier. When visiting the Bath area we would certainly stay here again!

GREAT FIND!! Don & Nina were fantastic hosts! We LOVED the location. We were welcomed with fresh flowers in a vase on the dining table, and we enjoyed our meals together there as well. We greatly appreciate how CLEAN the entire place was. The setup of their place was just perfect for us and our parents! We love to coo k, and the kitchen is well-appointed! The beds and pillows were very comfortable giving us a good night's sleep each night. The full-sized bedroom has a mini split which adds to the warmth or cool (whichever is needed). The master bedroom with a queen bed is large and comfortable. Our parents loved the two rocking chairs, and we enjoyed the comfy couch and chair. Even though we didn't have the greatest weather during our stay, we were able to get out on a kayak and enjoy the lake. The house is nestled in a very quiet cove on the lake and, because there is no public access to the lake, the entire lake is a fantastic find! This will be an annual stay for us now!

Such a cute, quiet, well-designed bungalow! The beds and couches were super comfortable, at times it was hard to get up! But we managed to run the half-marathon around the bay, walk the nearby trails and visit downtown. I hope 42 Vermont is available for our next visit to Portland. THANK YOU. The plentiful coffee pods were a bonus!

Great location on the east end--residential with short walk to the Eastern Promenade and large waterfront park, as well as downtown and tourist amenities. Very efficient use of the small space. Because we wanted to take advantage of dining out, the lack of a kitchen was no problem for us. The bedroom was surprisingly large and bathroom a tad small, but overall a very homey and comfortable stay for a few days.

One of the best Airbnb experiences! The location and surroundings were absolutely beautiful, and the house was exceptionally clean and comfortable. We had the chance to fish and kayak, which were the highlights - so peaceful and scenic. This was a truly unforgettable experience. We caught a couple of bass and pike, which was so much fun. The host was also very responsive and kind. We will definitely come back and highly recommend this place.

The absolute perfect weekend for my birthday party! Plenty of space to sleep everyone and gorgeous, well stocked kitchen. Huge backyard for lawn games and grilling. The ping pong table in the basement was a bonus! Close to the lake but situated in a private oasis with large deck to watch the many chipmunks scurrying around. Would highly recommend staying here!

Great backyard with a pool, hot tub, fire pit and privacy with the woods.

Very reasonably priced cozy rental home, near lots of lakes, and in a private setting. We enjoyed celebrating Father's Day wknd here. The open floor plan is great for groups with a nice long dining table and full kitchen to cook, enjoy meals, board games, and conversations. Moose Pond is lovely, and a short walk away. There are plenty of nearby lakes as well plus restaurants with good reviews. Would recommend this home for a nice escape and to enjoy relaxation with family or friends.

We would 100% recommend Dina’s place to ANYONE (and we hope to be back)! The place is beautiful and would accommodate a small to large family. The pool and hot tub are incredibly nice and peaceful surrounded by trees. The furniture is incredibly comfortable and the kitchen great to use. Dina is also incredibly thoughtful and quick with her replies. We got a little turned around arriving at night (the GPS lead us up the road a bit), but we found it!

The house was spotless and centrally located for what we wanted to do in southern Maine. It was well stocked with quality toilet paper, napkins and Kleenex. We had plenty of towels for the hot tub and pool. It is updated and well taken care of. The hosts were extremely helpful and we didn’t see them at all, so the place felt very private. This was an amazing house and our kids had so much fun in the pool and playing corn hole on the large deck. Would recommend this house for families and couples in a heartbeat!

I had a wonderful stay., they were fantastic in accommodations for me and my service dog who loved the yard. The home is beautiful and the host was very accommodating. communication was great. I look forward to staying there when I’m in that area again.

We stayed at Susan’s home and loved it. It was perfect for our party of 6 for a family getaway. Surprisingly spacious and everything was well kept and spotless. Susan is very proactive and responsive as a host and was a pleasure to communicate with. Location is great and is a very short drive to the Old Port area. All around a fantastic find and highly recommend if you’re looking for a place in Portland!

Christina’s place is awesome! Cozy, centrally located on the island, and stocked with everything you need for a great stay. We were very comfortable! Loved the afternoon sun on the back deck and having a fire pit out front in the evening. A bonus that it’s dog friendly! Christina was very responsive and helpful. We hope to be back again!

Angela was a fantastic host, responding quickly to any questions. The home was nice, close to downtown, and a HUGE yard for the dogs

Laura was a great host. We stayed at her place for a night to split up our drive from MA to Bar Harbor. We almost didn’t want to leave! Very clean, comfortable and easy check in. Laura was also super helpful and responsive and even gave us a great list of things to do in Acadia. We 100% recommend her and her place, you won’t be disappointed!

We just loved Rose Marie’s generosity. We had been driving most of the day and needed a little something to eat as we arrived around 7:30pm and we didn’t want to go out again. She offers a number of snacks which was just perfect. We were so thankful. We also loved that we were surrounded by the things that are important to Rose Marie. It gave the Airbnb personality. The bed and furniture were very comfortable and cozy. We could hear walking upstairs as others have mentioned but from her well-marked pictures we figured that would be the case. We had two little negatives. First was the dog hair that accumulated on our socks but Rose Marie clearly shows dogs in her pictures. Second was the air fresheners which gives us headaches. We were able to disengage them during our stay.

Beautiful and tranquil lake. Clean and comfortable cabin. Very welcoming host! Would absolutely recommend!

I loved this place so much. Probably one of my favorite Airbnb’s that I have ever stayed in. FYI, bring an eye mask if you are staying in the lofted bedroom in the summer months! BEAUTIFUL views and windows, but the sun rises early in Maine in June! LOL.

This romantic hidden cabin was the perfect getaway for our anniversary!

First time renting on Airbnb, it couldn’t have been a more perfect experience. The cozy cabin on the cliffs of Maine was beyond anything I could’ve imagined. Stephanie & Heather thought of everything; welcome snacks, dog treats, water, things to do,etc. They even had binoculars, we used on a bald eagle diving into water. Being able to use their kayaks (no charge), made packing & planning much easier. The peaceful surroundings & natural beauty made it easy to disconnect & relax. We saw so many jellyfish in the ocean and they were beautiful! On check-out morn, Stephanie messaged us to say we stay later in day because no one was checking in today, it was the nicest day. That extra time meant everything, we ended up leaving around 4pm with no extra charge. The level of kindness & hospitality is rare & so appreciated. This stay was absolutely unforgettable, we will 100% be coming back. Thank you, Stephanie & Heather, for creating such a peaceful, thoughtful, & welcoming escape.

We had a great stay at the Barn'acle! Julia's home is located just a short walk from many great restaurants, cafes, and shops, as well as a quick drive from Wolfe's Neck Woods State Park and several other attractions. The space has recently been renovated and was very clean. We would love to stay there again next time we're in Freeport.
