Family-friendly holiday rentals in Cowichan Lake

I can't say enough good things about the Captain's Quarters and Henny as a host. This was our third Easter weekend in a row spent at CQ on Galiano, and we cherished every minute - even adding an extra night to our stay this year. It's an amazing, private spot to relax, embrace the peacefulness, the comforts (hot tub is my personal fave, and the new king sized bed afforded many extra hours of sleep), and the island mentality. Henny is an absolute gem, and was always quick to respond to any requests. Even when the island had a brief, 2-hour power outage, Henny provided us with extra lighting, and the assurance that should the power outage last longer, she would run the generator. Our dog Feivel also finally got on our level, and didn't even bark when Henny came by with complimentary greens and smoked salmon tails! We can't wait to be back.

This cottage was everything and more. It was perfect for a surprise birthday getaway for my best friend and I. We got to see Candy and Solei ( their horses ) everyday during our stay. Watching them was one of our favorite moments. Had the most peaceful time! It’s very private and blissful! Time really does move slow while you’re here and it was exactly what I was looking for. Japanese garden, putting green, disc golf and horseshoe pit was a bonus. Thank you for letting us use your bikes, it was quite the adventure. The night sky was nothing like I seen before so happy we got to see so many stars swinging on the hammock it was a dream. The cottage itself is just perfect! Pictures don’t do justice we will be definitely visit again. Thank you again Jacquie and her husband for the warm welcome

Really lovely place in Cowichan Valley. Jane was a lovely and kind host. The place was exactly as shown/described, with a well stocked kitchen and a comfortable bed. Would stay here again when we're back in Duncan!

What an incredibly peaceful gem this space is! The cabin is jaw-dropping when you first walk in - gorgeous with huge windows, beautiful wood everywhere, and comfortable, clean and modern furniture. The fireplace was cozy and easy to use and the kitchen well-stocked. Master bedroom with huge windows and the sound of the creek had such a relaxed vibe. Steam shower is incredible! Linens top notch. Easy to find and very private property, completely surrounded by nature. Only issue we had was hot tub was cold when we arrived and it took hours to heat up so we missed out on it our first day. 10/10 recommend and would love to return.

I don’t even know where to start, but I guess I’d have to start and end with the stunning views from every part of the house. I wanted to stay there almost every minute I didn’t wanna miss a minute of the sunsets or the sunrises or the boats or the otters or the seals or the Incredible skies or stars… Plenty of room for six or eight people, well stocked. There’s half a dozen seating areas all different size shapes of chairs and cushions, I didn’t get a chance to use the Jacuzzi and the spa wasn’t working while we were there, but everything was exactly as advertised. Or better. I can’t think of anything that would’ve made my stay more amazing. I can’t wait to go back and bring my family.

My teens and I stayed at Black Otter Cove for a two days. It was such a special place and next time we would plan to stay longer. The outdoor space is serene and the views are stunning. The home itself is beautiful, clean and has so many unique touches. We loved the art inside and appreciated the welcome gift. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

The suite was lovely, small but beautiful surroundings and view. Perfect for a cozy stay for one or two. Had a minor issue on check-in and Bree was quick to help resolve it. Thank you for the stay Bree!

Sarah's place was just as described! It was very quiet, clean, and the view of the bay was lovely. There are good restaurants nearby and Sarah provided excellent recommendations. I would definitely stay here again.

Diane’s place was lovely! Amazing way to escape the city and be with the nature! They greeted us with kindness and farm fresh eggs! They have donkeys and lambs and chickens running around outside and even some water view visible from the airbnb. We can not wait to come back and would recommend this place to anyone who seeks some quite nature time!

Peter's place was perfect for our three nights on Galiano with our dogs. The house was comfortable and the view was exceptional! We had perfect weather to enjoy the patio and veranda, and it was a great base from which to explore the island. The location on Montague Harbour provided ready access to the Provincial park and we also travelled to several other locations for hikes and beach adventures. Larry welcomed us when we arrived and was available to answer questions as needed. We will definitely stay here again on future trips to Galiano.

We always enjoy staying at Shannon's as her place feels like home to us. Shannon is friendly, prompt in her communication and her place is supplied with everything for a comfortable family stay. We always look forward to her generous and thoughtful breakfast basket! The short walk to the beach is a special part of our vacation too. Thank you, Shannon, for being a valued host.

I had a wonderful stay here over the weekend! Niki and her husband were incredibly generous and friendly. On my first night, they even brought me some snacks, which was such a thoughtful gesture. Their adorable dog, Guss, and sweet cat, Mikey, added joy to the experience—they’re both incredibly friendly . The location is perfect—extremely close to both the ferry and bus stop. The place was exactly as described, with beautiful views and a cozy atmosphere. I also appreciated the extra blankets provided. Overall, a very pleasant and comfortable stay!

We had a great stay at Melanie and John's airbnb. It was squeaky clean and they had the nicest welcome basket with eggs (the eggs were delicious) in the fridge which was such a nice surprise. We set up a meeting with them to meet their goats. They had a great guidebook for the area, and lots of fun details like boardgames, colouring books, and a record player. We spent most of our time during the day driving out to go to Sooke potholes, botanical beach, and other natural tourist hotspots which weren't too far out for a day trip. Overall I'd highly recommend this airbnb!

The hosts were kind and communicative (despite my anxious dog not making a great first impression!). The hosts provided a fenced in 'back yard' area at the entrance to the suite, which made for many sunny hours lounging in the sun after a walk to the river at the back of the property. The interior of the suite is quite basic and not the most private (I believe their office is on the other side of the door in the living room area and not sound-proofed), and you must be sure to keep your food secured as there are a lot of ants in the suite/kitchen - but what the suite itself lacks is made up for by the sprawling green expanse of the farm and surrounding wildlife. The alpacas were curious and friendly, and my dog enjoyed watching the neighbour's geese down the road. Overall I think my dog enjoyed the property even more than the beaches we visited while in town. Thanks again for the stay! I would visit again just to sit at the river and bask in the forest.

The house is very comfortable and just as beautiful as the photos. The location is incredible - amazing views of the water, mountains, and big ships passing. It was so lovely to be able to just walk across the street and be on the beach with long walks possible in either direction. It was also really convenient for groceries and restaurants along 4th Ave, and an easy 15 minute drive to downtown and Stanley Island. We loved Vancouver and our stay in this beautiful home!

We stayed late March for a bit of spring break and the a lovely time. There was no one staying at the main cottage or the campground so we had the entire property to ourselves. It was very peaceful. The property is beautifully maintained with lots of space to explore. The seals were out everyday. Just a couple minutes drive form the grocery store. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed.

Billie’s place was the perfect spot for a trip to Salt Spring Island. Really appreciated the welcome, orientation of the suite and local recommendations. I’d love to stay again and will definitely recommend!

My family of four stayed at Nyna's to attend a wedding over the Labour Day long weekend and enjoy some relaxation time at Rathtrevor Beach. The cabin had an absolutely perfect location for our purposes. It is an easy 20-minute walk to the beach, but we also drove to Rathtrevor whenever the kids insisted on bringing an excessive number of toys to play in the sand. The cabin itself was exactly as described and pictured. We were not entirely sure of our check-in time due to needing to pick up supplies on our way to the cabin, but Nyna still stuck around to welcome us in person upon our arrival and give us a personal tour of the place. She was an extremely responsive and helpful host. We would highly recommend her place to anyone wishing to stay in the area. Thank you, Nyna!

Agata’s place was so beautiful, in a great location and very comfortable to stay in! There was lots to do around the area and it felt very safe. It was very easy to check in, even when going with a vehicle and the instructions were super easy to follow. Agata also responded quickly to messages and made communication stress-free. The cottage was great for our family of 5! Equipped with beach towels, toys, and even a mini cooler - this makes beach going easy. Everyone enjoyed the pool and the beds and sofa beds were all comfy! Thanks so much for a great stay!

Super convenient and comfortable. Enjoyed gas fireplace, pool table and comfortable beds. Host was extremely responsive and helpful. We would definitely stay again.

We loved the cottage. Great location, comfy beds, everything we needed. The only thing we would say is that the photos don’t do it justice. It’s much nicer in real life (which is always a bonus!) Judy the host made everything very easy.
