This train is located on the historic Golden Chain Highway, now called Highway 49 named after the 49ers who came seeking their fortune. Just a short drive to Yosemite National Park and nestled in the foothills of a California gold rush town, the Caboose is a part of the Vacation Station, a decommissioned train that has been lovingly converted into a vacation rental.
“Really charming and unique spot! The caboose itself was very cozy with lots of little touches such as a tea selection, a snack box, and a few spices. Quite a few cooking utensils are provided. The bed was surprisingly comfortable and there was lots of guest storage space. We got a little banged up while hiking, and the first aid kit in the caboose actually had everything we needed. On top of all that, it was very clean. Keep in mind that the town is very sleepy and many things aren't open during the week, so plan your food ahead. The caboose is absolutely adorable - overall I'd highly recommend!”
Our rental is 42 miles from the Yosemite's Big Oak Flat Entrance. We are kid & pet friendly hosts. The studio features a fenced yard with a gas BBQ, refrigerator, microwave, Keurig coffee brewer, toaster, electric skillet, plates, bowls & utensils. We have a 2 night minimum stay.
“You will be overwhelmed by their kindness and generosity! The personal touches during your stay are endless and they are always available in case you need anything. The cabin, location, and advice they will provide will make you feel like you have arrived at "your perfect place." The cabin is peaceful, warm, and cozy, perfect after a long day of exploring, fishing or getting away for a relaxing stay. This host really cares for their visitors and goes out of their way to make you feel welcomed, including your four-legged friends. My only wish is that I didn't have to leave so soon. We will never forget our stay, and plan to return in the very near future!”
4 guests 3 beds 2 couch beds 2019 new rental As you enjoy the forests and beauty of the Sierra Mountains make your vacation more unforgettable by staying in the colorful, light filled rooms of our cottage on a four acre pond suitable for swimming, boating and fishing.
“The cottage was a great fit for is. My two children enjoyed taking a hike in the morning with Marilyn and her dog in the morning, boating and swimming in the pond in the afternoon, and riding bikes in the evening. Yosemite hasn't opened but that did not bother us at all. She has wonderful garden, and the dog and a cat is a huge bonus. Sitting by the fireplace reading and doing homework with my kids is a treat. We do't mind air dry cloth and towels. I use my phone's ATT network to hotspot computers. and oven cook things just the right way slowly.”
