Mark had a gorgeous property, perfectly appointed and pristine. He was a superb host, very responsive and so helpful. The forested lot provides a peaceful and private location just a short hike to the Shenandoah River. The surrounding natural beauty and wildlife were the highlight of our stay. The house was clean and offered beautiful scenery. The grill was located near the river, allowing you to enjoy cooking, dining, and taking in the view all at once. Due to the weather, the firewood was wet; it would be better if it were covered to ensure the fire pit remains usable after rain. Overall, I highly recommend this place and would definitely be happy to revisit.

We had a wonderful stay at the cabin! It was incredibly clean, cozy, quiet and peaceful. The cabin had everything we needed, and we especially appreciated the toddler gear, which saved us from packing extra items. We loved making s’mores by the firepit and curling up with books next to the gas fireplace on cool summer nights. The beds were super comfortable, and everything felt well cared for and inviting. As others have mentioned it’s quite the hike up the dirt road, but we had no problem in a small suv. It was a great retreat and would come back!

What stood out about this amazing home isn’t what is listed on the description but the little things they didn’t mention that made it so welcoming. The kitchen is modern and stocked as well as my own with cleaning supplies, cooking utensils, and extra things like spices. There were night lights in the rooms, which was great for the kids. Cozy fireplace with the wood ready to use. The bathrooms are updated and the bedrooms have cozy bedroom vibes. The hot tub was perfect after a long hike. The sheets and towels are not cheep hotel grade but cozy and soft. Everything about the house just welcomes you in.

Extremely private and rustic. Some desires left when it came to amenities, namely being able to take longer showers. Some uncleanliness and lackluster pest control is excused as "part of the experience." That being said, hosts are super helpful and wonderful to interact with. The location was fairly remote and private, great for people who want to take a weekend off to clear their mind. There's access to hiking and a small pond, plus other outdoor activities.

Loved the peace and quiet and the hot tub was awesome! Lots of wildlife right out the front door. Beautiful area and gorgeous views. We will be back!

We really enjoyed our stay. It was the perfect get away! Our twins loved sleeping in the bunk beds and petting the cows. Mel gave us a private tour of the farm and the views were incredible everywhere we went. We stopped by their store on the grounds as well and are looking forward to trying their beef and fresh eggs. The cabin was well equipped for our stay.

We had a great stay! The house was just what we needed and Cassie was super responsive and friendly. The birdsong on the mountain mornings was an extra treat!

This was one of the best homes we’ve stayed in. My husband & I enjoyed a weekend getaway here and loved it, especially being so close to the river. The house is exactly as described, spotless, well decorated & with all the amenities. The area is very quiet & safe, which is perfect for relaxation. Communication with Erica & Richard was always quick and they gave us some great recommendations for restaurants to try. We’d definitely return for a stay at their house.

River House – 5 Stars My husband and I stayed in the River House for 4 days. We totally enjoyed ourselves there. It was exactly what we were looking for, peace and quiet while gazing upon nature at its best. The house is very clean, neat and crisp with a touch of warmth everywhere. It has everything you could want for your stay, making it home-sweet-home. The house is nestled between trees and situated right on the bank of the Shenandoah’s running river. Enjoy the lush green forest across the river while drinking your morning coffee in the sunroom. You’ll see that this serene setting brings a daily refuge of birds nesting and hummingbirds feeding to the top deck. The sunroom is so cozy and inviting. It seems as if the house is on stilts sitting over the running river. The River House has two large decks, a patio and boats for your family’s enjoyment. Fantastic cabin in the woods! Down a dead end road and VERY quiet! Our favorite part was probably the hot tub (used it every night lol). The driveway is very very steep but as long as you have AWD or 4WD you will have no problem making it up. There is also plenty of room to back up before you go back down. Keep in my mind if you are brining a furbaby(s) that there is not fence to keep them contained. We had a great time and would most definitely book again if we were in the area :)

Matt's place was beyond expectations. It was so cozy and the bear decor everywhere was so cute! We had everything we needed and then some. the kitchen is beautiful and we enjoyed the serene back porch. The fenced in yard was a major bonus for our pup to enjoy the nature as well. We didn't get a chance to enjoy the grill area as it was raining most of our trip but that would have been a great place to enjoy our dinners. The theater and game room were awesome too. We had one mishap with the propane company locking the propane, so we couldn't use the gas stove and no one could come out to fix it since it was a holiday weekend. Matt immediately remedied the situation by instacarting us an electric 2 burner stove (you're welcome to any future guests that need it😀) . I would definitely recommend Matt and Matt's place and will stay again if ever in the area. Thank you so much for making our vacay great!

Julia's place is an Idyllic setting - so tranquil, yet close enough to a great tavern for dinner. Amazing - we cannot wait to come back.

I cannot say enough about how special The Wizards Chalet was for us on our honeymoon. My husband and I both love the outdoors so much and appreciate our privacy and this was the perfect place for us. Our absolute favorite part was spending time out on the back deck and cooking dinners together in the beautiful kitchen. In between our adventures, we found so much peace in the drives and scenery but honestly we honestly felt like we were home the entire time. Marianna was so friendly and responsive from the moment we booked and after we left, would 100% recommend her as a host and The Wizards Chalet for a getaway. Looking forward to returning in the future for more adventures!

From the moment we arrived, we felt at home. Not only was Sarah‘s home beautifully maintained and clean the added comforts of home like a stocked Keurig and supplies to do laundry, made it feel very easy and comfortable. They even had extra chargers for us in case we forgot our phone chargers. It was very close to my brother’s home so I’ll be renting again next time we come down to visit.

This was such a peaceful, quiet getaway! We spent so much time sitting on the back deck with a book, some tea, and our dog just listening to nature sounds. The house is full of extra amenities. With a full kitchen, books, games, TV, and even a ukulele, we were perfectly happy hanging around the house all weekend. A perfect little weekend cabin!
