“Basic accommodation in a small but beautiful town. Borgarness is good base to explore snaefellness peninsula. We stayed for 2 nights 3rd wk of October and were fortunate enough to see a strong display of the aurora borealis. It was right at the top of the house and making huge arc accross the bay just as what was told earlier by our host Elena. The majestic display lasted few hours and it was Indeed the highlight of our 2 weeks vacation in Iceland.”

“Hafdis’s place was very easy to find, and she gave great instructions on what to do upon arriving. The place was much bigger than I expected and very clean! The location was perfect for us as we flew in that morning and spent the entire day exploring. Hafdis also gave us great recommendations for waterfalls and other points of interest that we would have otherwise skipped. The kitchen was great because eating out in Iceland is expensive. You really can’t beat the view out the kitchen window either! We shopped at the Bonus grocery store down the road and cooked dinner and breakfast here. The bed was so comfortable we overslept, but Hafdis was very understanding and didn’t make us rush out to make check-out time exactly. Their pup is very cute and friendly. What a lovely stay!”

“We had a 4 night stopover so enjoyed our time in the area around and in Borgarnes. Visit the Settlement House for the exhibits and dinner or lunch, we had dinner. We enjoyed good coffee and pastries at the Geirabackeri Kaffihus that was used at a location for the Secret Life of Walter Mitty but redesigned as a Papa John's. Enjoy a wine and/or hot chocolate and the waffle with whip cream is so good at Blomasetrio. The space is warm and inviting on a cold winter day! Some local restaurants were closed for the season, but Matstofan was open and we enjoyed a tasty dinner- reasonably priced! Within an hour you can visit the Grabrock Volcano craters and Hraunfossar and Barnafossar waterfalls - Bring SPIKES for winter, not the coils- and in 1/2 hr we were at the Krauma Spa - beautiful view and relaxing! We did not have clear skies to see northern lights. The views at Michelle's are amazing. PS if you eat meat, try the Iceland Hot Dog at the local petrol stations like the N1.”
