Holiday rentals with a fireplace in Borgarbyggð

We feel so fortunate to have spent 2 glorious nights at Halldor’s house with our 2 college-aged sons. The house design is exquisite: a perfect blend of simplicity, style, and sophistication but lacking in pretension. The house is designed with windows and glass doors looking out over the property. In every direction there are rolling fields and river views. We loved dunking in the river and racing up to the sauna. We also loved the outdoor shower. We lit a fire each night and cooked meals in the wonderful kitchen. The only downside to the house is that you never want to leave it! But we did enjoy going into town. The Settlement museum offered a very good intro to Iceland history. This was a perfect place for us to stay on our way to the West Fjords. I truly hope we come back and stay much longer next time. Thank you, Halldor, for creating such a beautiful home.

Check-in was very simple and convenient, the place was very clean and equipped with everything you need both in the kitchen and in the toilet. Essential but welcoming apartment.

What an amazing place. The cottage is located in a beautigful fjord with an uncredibld view towards the sea and mountains partly covered in snow. We enjoyed our stay to the fullest. Highly recommend staying in this beautiful cottage as it is a great spot to chill, relax and have a great time with family and friends. We will be back. Thank you so much guys! well-equipped accommodation. Quiet environment. perfect for a night

The house was beautiful, actually described, and with extra bonuses like the hot tub and easy access to the lake with amazing views (also from the house and deck). There were some quirks -- there were a couple of boards missing from the ceiling when we walked in, one of the bedroom doors is very difficult to open due to risen floor boards, and there was a constant small water flow in the master bath. Nonetheless, this house was an excellent place to stay, and in a perfect central location for visiting Snefellsnes, Langjokull/Reykholt region, or the golden circle. Borganes nearby (20 minutes) is a quaint small town with a museum (the settlement museum) worth visiting. Or just enjoy the the house and peaceful surrounds! We did have problems not getting check-in information, which was a problem. The gate to get cars in and out is annoying, especially for checking in or out when there is no opener and so you need to text the hosts (which cost us 20 minutes ).

A truly stunning house, tucked against beautiful landscape. The hot tub and fireplace were a hit with our family, and it truly felt like an oasis after a day out exploring. We were there in winter/early spring and it was charming. I can only imagine what the summer with access to the lake would be like! A great place for kids too. The little play structure is so close and the house clearly is a place for gathering family. This place is enough to tempt us to do another trip to Iceland!
