Our exploration of the Old Town Plaza will begin with coffee, tea and biscochitos on the balcony of our home, looking out over the original town square and historic San Felipe Church. We will overlook history as well, and gaze back from the Tewa people on who’s land Old Town was built, to life on the plaza during the Spanish, Mexican and American colonial periods. Next we will undertake a walking tour of the plaza with a focus on the old adobe architecture and the stories associated with the buildings and smaller placitas that make up Old Town, using historical photos and visuals to support the information. This stroll will include secrets and lore unknown even to most Albuquerque residents, interaction with some of the "old timers" that live and work here, and pointers what to see and do and where to eat, tailored to the needs and interests of each group. Old Town is a valuable community resource and there are frequent impromptu happenings- quinceaneras, vintage car parades, etc. The tour will embrace these spontaneous events as they occur making the visit to Old Town even more vibrant and personal. Finally, at the end of the tour experience, participants have the option of being served lunch at La Placita Dining Room in the Manuel Armijo House, one of the oldest structures on the Plaza, built in 1706. Our experience will let you take a break from the present day, laugh and be creative with our interactive games throughout. •You’ll find your inner cowboy/cowgirl name. •You’ll learn to talk real western slang of the 1800s. •Food, drink, clothes and music of the Wild West will be covered and more. From the comfort of your own home, get set to ride off into the virtual sunset, partner! This western adventure is ideal for everyone. Singles, couples, families, celebrations and corporate teams are all welcome! Having lived all my life in the West, I’ll be sharing my personal connections and stories throughout. I’ll also give resources to music, recipes, reading and travel ideas for your next journey to the West. So let’s hit the dusty trail, partner! 1. We will take a look at my woven fabrics and get ideas for techniques you want to try. We also look for color combinations that appeal to you. 2. Next, you fill a basket with your yarn choices. Choose your color and texture palette! 3. We will learn to wind yarn onto bobbins, so you can begin your creation. 4. We always start simple and learn the basic steps of weaving. Shuttle, feet, beat! 5. As you get comfortable, we can start adding texture, colors, and design with different techniques. 6. When you near the end of your time, we will take your piece off the loom and finish the ends by knotting the warp. 7. You will walk out the door with your woven creation! Welcome Santa Fe Fun Hunters! This active, immersive and challenging adventure is a deeper dive into the art, history and vibes of Santa Fe. It is a 2 hour hunt of a list of creative challenges, social experimentation and being amateur detectives on the hunt for the type of local stories a good tour guide would tell you. The magic part of this experience is YOU! Its a co-creation between you and your host that is not a passive event like a film, or tour. This happens because you take on the missions and go make it happen. Pick your super hero team name before our pre-hunt powwow and come ready for an exhilarating and unique adventure. You may even make a friend or two. You do need Whats App to interact with your host and send clues back and forth. Q. Will we be finding GPS points, solving math clues and using GPS, like on most scavenger hunts? A. No, these hunts are quite different. Come prepared for something completely new. Choose Eagle to play an active and challenging game and to get most or all of the clues. Choose Turtle to cruise at your own speed,enjoy the scenery and just do some of the clues. It all begins at a scenic spot that's a local favorite. We will get our missions and go over instructions/ground rules for the game. After a warm-up to prepare for this true sport, teams will take off to experience a wide variety of carefully curated locations throughout town. You'll drive in your car (special carless version available on request) to the various checkpoints, solving clues and accepting challenges that involve getting outside your comfort zone at each spot! Both family and dog friendly, the game alternates between the indoors and outdoors with plenty of alternative spots and free choices too! You'll send photos to your host to document your progress. You can even interact with locals to solve clues! You won’t be able to avoid having fun, uncovering hidden gems and local secrets, making memories, laughing and learning along the way! You’ll be part of the rich culture of this dynamic city! Every turn is full of surprises, so questions in advance are welcomed!
