“Thanks for providing a lovely, clean and very comfortable home away from home for our second honeymoon. We loved the tips and went to every one of the sights. The grocery near by was very convenient. Everything was so convenient to get to by bus and taxi when we did that in the evenings. Our highlights were the Flatts area, the dockyard and many places in Hamilton. The Ferry is the best option to the dockyard, what a treat! Thank you Jacquie for your quick responses to our texts, all the best :)”
Welcome ! Come, relax and enjoy our lovely studio cottage, ideally located on the waterside of beautiful Westside road. The property has 140 ft of easily accessible waterfront, perfect for a swim and is also within a 2 minute walk to a secluded beach. The cottage is quiet, airy and is finished to a high standard, offering a very casual luxury. Transportation is easy and the amenities are many. This is a slice of old Bermuda charm, perfect for relaxing and taking in all that is Bermuda !
“This was our first time visiting Bermuda and Marlon was a wonderful host! The small goodie basket was a real treat! Although we didn’t get to meet him, he answered all our numerous questions quickly and even offered to drive us to the grocery store on the first night! It’s a quick walk to the grocery store but just note that it is a bit pricey in there. We went during the off-season but even so the view right next to the water is beautiful. Just take a few steps down and you can swim in the clear blue waters and even sneak a peak at some sea turtles swimming with you! We rented a Twizy during our stay and it got us to see some of the nearby beaches and up to Dockyard where we ferried into Hamilton to check out the city. All the locals we met were super nice. Just be aware that when we took a taxi to and from the airport it’s going to cost around $80 each way.”
Bird's Nest cottage is a historically listed seaside cottage perched at the waters edge, overlooking Bailey's Bay. The cottage has been restored and includes modern conveniences necessary for a comfortable stay. It's the perfect getaway for up to four guests, with 2 bedrooms with double beds.
“The Birds Nest Cottage is the perfect get away for those looking to relax in an authentic period Cottage by the Sea. It sits "almost precariously" overlooking Bailey's Bay with an unobstructed view of the water and a small Island. The Cottage is located at the upper end of the Island and as the name connotates, it is on a Bay, which is the reason it is so peaceful. You can sit for hours on end watching the fish, fishermen, birds and glorious teal blue water, or put on a suit and snorkel in the front yard! Its proximity to the first Settlement in 1612 of St George is particularly interesting for those wanting some of the Islands Historical lore. Additionally, I was happy with the shopping there as I was finally able to purchase real "Bermuda Shorts". Upon our arrival the previous day, Elizabeth our Host suggested we purchase a Bus Pass, which by the way she pre-arranged for us before we got there, making it extremely convenient and which was much smarter and safer...than me trying to drive on the wrong side of the road! The Bus rides are interesting and the locals you meet on the busses are friendly and love to share stories. The busses traverses the Island from one end to the other constantly. It is a wonderful system that really works! By Bus we were able to visit the other side of the Island with the Grand Hotels and crashing surf Beaches. Our favorite was Horseshoe Bay Beach, with Rum drinks in hand from the small Rum Bar on site, at waters edge, combined with unending Sunshine and Pink Sand Beaches what is not to like? A couple of days we decided to explore Hamilton, the Capital City, chock full of cultural events, On our second day, again... Elizabeth was full of good suggestions, as we headed out to a Portuguese Street Festival. Great Fun, with authentic Cuisine. Continuing on to the Museum at the top of the hill, we enjoyed a local Art Show, where I met Plein Air Artists just finishing their yearly painting jaunt on the Island. I also left a significant amount of American Dollars there! No worries... I will enjoy my purchases forever. Additionally, The Restaurants in Hamilton were I think, the best on the Island. The next morning it was back on the Bus! Our destination the Royal Naval Dockyard on the Western end of Sandy Parish, transient home to many Cruise ships and a shoppers delight! I know we barely scratched the surface of this beautiful Island, but there was simply not enough time to see it all... as it was Paramount that every afternoon my friend Michele and I hurried back to the Birds Nest Cottage for evening Cocktails, long conversations as only best friend can enjoy, a simple Supper on the Grill and the most magnificent sunsets! I highly suggest this location as the best on the Island and from my experience I know Elizabeth will make your Vacation special just as special as ours! Until next time... Betsy Pare' Maine, U.S.A.”
