Quinta da Costa - double room

This apartment offers breathtaking views of the confluence of the Pinhão River and the Douro River. It is surrounded by lemon and orange trees. The place is isolated but very relaxing. It is therefore preferable to have a car to get there. Otherwise, you can take a taxi from the train station or walk, but you have to walk for at least 1 hour on steep streets.

Casa do Romezal's Bungalow

Margarida bungalows are absolutely beautiful. They are spacious and had everything we could have wanted. Margarida was very responsive to any questions and proactively suggested things to do and the best restaurants around the area. Margarida's brother Louis hosted us for a wine tasting in the vineyard the bungalows are in and we absolutely loved his passion for the process and delicious wines. We can't recommend this place more!

Nature Cottage - Exclusive

What a great stay we had at Maria's! She literally welcomed us with open arms with a delicious lunch on her balcony with a beautiful view over the garden and the beautiful green hills. On the same balcony, we enjoyed an extensive and lovingly prepared breakfast every morning. The place is really great and especially the garden, which is like a paradise, full of fruit trees, olives, grapes, vegetables, herbs and other plants and flowers. There are nice seats everywhere to enjoy the wonderful garden with the beautiful view. And then Maria, a rare sweet, warm and caring woman. Everything she does feels sincere and straight from the heart. She was almost like a mother to us and like a grandmother to our daughter. It was not easy to say goodbye after 6 days, but we take the best memories with us. Thank you very much dear Maria!

Casa Museu da Avó Gena

Jose’s place, (Pedro is the Son of), has a lovely home in a quiet friendly village. The home was relatively easy to find, (could do with an Airbnb sign on the corner of the property, to help weary travellers). Once arrived and settled in, Jose is a BRILLIANT host, so welcoming, so generous and the home is comfortable and quiet. We enjoyed a meal in a neighbouring town, that Jose, happily booked for us, but there is all the available gear to cook for yourself. The area is close to the Duoro river, and Jose gives so many options for activities for this area. He is very passionate about the history and his town. We would recommend this home to anyone who is in the area.

Terra D'Alva | House within Douro's National Park

We felt so lucky to have spent a few days there. Amazing to stay in such a mid century gem, designed by the owner’s architect father. It is quite basic in terms of amenities which adds to its authenticity although cooking is a bit challenging. But the pool is very luxurious. And the home made cheese and daily fresh bread were wonderful. Irene is a kind and friendly host. We could not locate the place but she drove to meet us and lead us there. When a fuse blew one evening (it was extremely hot) she came and fixed it immediately. She could not have been more gracious, we really enjoyed talking with her and hearing about the history of her family and the house. As others have mentioned, the nearest supermarket is about 45 minutes away so be sure to shop on your way. There are two very small refrigerators so bear that in mind when shopping. A truly memorable, special place.
