Log home overlooks Lake Superior in Michigans U P

We are between Marquette (25 miles) and Munising (18 miles ) , and 6 miles west of AuTrain's gorgeous Beach and the AuTrain river, where canoeing / kayaking is extremely popular. Our quiet Hiawatha Log Home is clean and neat, with plenty of parking. The view is stunning of Lake Superior and AuTrain Island. Be sure to wake early for the sunrise. This property is not on Lake Superior. A quiet road and a narrow strip of county property separate the land and water. 1 pet permitted, $90 per stay.

A living room area is highlighted with a stone fireplace as the focal point. Wooden accents are present throughout, including a coffee table and bookshelves. Two seating arrangements consist of a dark leather sofa and a red couch, while large windows allow natural light to enter.

This historic log cottage was originally built in the first part of the 1900’s as one of the early fishing camps of Shelter Bay. Over the years there have been numerous modern improvements, but much of the rustic charm, such as the large stone fireplace and the low ceilings and exposed rafters of the second story, remain…and the character does too. The shoreline is stones and boulders which make for lots of action and adds to the aesthetics that come from the sound of lapping waves.

A full kitchen which includes a stove, fridge, and a BBQ grill to cook what you would like. There is a queen size bed, and a natural gas fireplace, and full bathroom. We also have a deck to enjoy the wildlife from. Hummingbirds, Blue Heron, geese, ducks, eagles, river otters and more have all been spotted from the front porch.
