Kid-friendly holiday rentals in Appenzell Ausserrhoden

Wir durften schon zum zweiten Mal super schöne Tage bei Manuela im Häusschen verbringen. Es war wieder alles perfekt. Der grosse Garten war für Gross und Klein ein Highlight zum spielen, entdecken oder erholen. Sehr geschätzt haben wir die vielen Spielsachen für die Kids. Auch das Haus ist sehr liebevoll eingerichtet. Herzlichen Dank liebe Manuela.

Das Haus war wie auf den Fotos, wunderschön und die Räume und Badezimmer waren sehr sauber. Das ganze Haus ist sehr schön renoviert und eigerichtet. Leider war das Geschirr und Besteck bei unserer Ankunft schmutzig und die 2 Bratpfannen waren so verkratzt, dass wir sie nicht mehr gebrauchen konnten. Der schriftliche Kontakt mit Johannes war freundlich und proaktiv. Die Lage des Hauses ist toll. Man ist schnell mit dem Auto in Appenzell und zu Fuss in wenigen Minuten bei der Luftseilbahn die auf den hohen Kasten führt.

Die Unterkunft war so wie beschrieben und sehr sauber. Es war alles vorhanden, was man benötigt und wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt im Haus. Die Küche ist sehr gut ausgestattet und es fehlte an nichts. Es war alles sauber und das Dorf war gut zu Fuss erreichbar. Wir haben auf Fragen immer sehr schnell eine Antwort erhalten. Wir können es nur empfehlen.

Wir haben die Zeit in Urnäsch sehr genossen, im Haus war alles vorhanden, was wir brauchten, praktisch und doch liebevoll eingerichtet und sehr sauber. Der Standort liegt ruhig und doch in kurzer Gehdistanz zum Bahnhof (und zur Gelateria!) und eignet sich deshalb ausserordentlich gut als Ausgangspunkt zu diversen Wanderungen, v.a. auch im Gebiet der Schwägalp und bis ins Toggenburg - und auf jedem Hügel hat es ein Gasthaus, perfekt! Vielen Dank an marlis und Dominik für das Vertrauen.

Die Lage wo sich das Häuschen befindet ist wirklich schön! Man hat einen klasse Blick auf den Säntis und kann direkt von der Unterkunft wanderungen starten. Die Unterkunft war wie beschrieben, einizg die Vorhänge waren für uns etwas zu lichtdurchlässig. Wir waren mit zwei Hunden vor Ort und haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt :-)

Sehr schönes Häuschen mit Garten, zwischen leicht Modern und Oldschool. Schöne Natur usw., wir waren lange nicht mehr so entspannt, sogar der Hund war entspannt. Bonus war das Bächlein dass durch den Garten geht, besonders schön zum Einschlafen. Nur zum empfehlen👌👍👍

Das Appartement ist zentral und doch ruhig gelegen. Bahnhof, Supermarkt und Bäckerei sind in 5 Minuten zu Fuss erreichbar. Die Küche ist sehr gut ausgestattet (inklusive Raclette-Ofen und Fondue-Caquelon). Es lohnt sich, mindestens drei Nächte zu buchen, um von der besten Ferienkarte der Schweiz (inklusive Gratis-Hin- und Rückfahrt mit dem Zug) profitieren zu können. Wir haben uns bei Hans und Hildegard sehr wohlgefühlt und werden wiederkommen.

Martin is a beautiful host, and his communication is great. The apartment was clean and very comfortable, and he filled it with nice treats for breakfast. His communication was always helpful and made everything easy. I really enjoyed my stay.

Regula's apartment was super clean and had such and amazing view! It was so quiet at night and had a giant sky filled with stars. Convenient location and only a short drive to Appenzel. We used this place as a base camp to hike to the Schafler hut and Äscher. Regula was such a wonderful host and left us some delicious homemade jam upon our arrival. She gave us great recommendations and was super friendly. This was a highlight of our trip. If her apartment is available, book it!

We had a blissful stay at Michael’s place overlooking the lake. As fans of architecture, we truly appreciated the thoughtfully designed space—every detail felt intentional and well planned. It was clear how much care and love went into creating this home, and we’re grateful to the hosts for sharing such a personal and special place with us. Thank you making our time in Switzerland so cozy and comfortable!

Remi always responded to any questions we had. He was very helpful with information and had prepared a detailed booklet regarding his home, its history and what to do. His place is close to the station and in the centre of the old town. We enjoyed watching people coming and going in the square below. His kitchen is well equipped and his house had everything we needed. We’d be happy to stay in Reno’s home again.

Absolutely fabulous stay at Fabian’s house — truly a hidden gem nestled in the heart of the Swiss Alps! From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this home was created with immense passion, care, and a keen eye for detail. Every corner of the house exudes comfort and style, blending Swiss charm with modern luxury. It’s spotless, thoughtfully decorated, and fully equipped with everything one could possibly need for a perfect stay. The view? Simply breathtaking. Waking up each morning to the majestic mountains of the Swiss Alps right outside the window was like living in a postcard. The location is serene, yet conveniently located for exploring the surrounding areas, hiking, or just soaking in the peaceful alpine vibe. Fabian was an incredible host, and we were lucky to also meet his wonderful parents and friend — all of whom went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and well taken care of. Their warmth, helpfulness, and local insights truly elevated our stay.

Wunderschöne kleine Wohnung von der man alles wichtige in Herisau zu Fuß erreichen kann. Die Ausstattung war super und es hat an nichts gefehlt. Parkplatz vor dem Haus ist top.

Susanne est très accueillante, serviable et agréable. L'appartement est très bien décoré, avec un contraste équilibré de moderne et d'ancien. Contrairement à d'autres commentaires, les cloches de l'église située en face ne nous ont pas dérangés! A conseiller pour la découverte de cette partie du canton d'Appenzell. Merci pour tout.

Wir legen jedem die Unterkunft ans Herz. Die Unterkunft war sehr sauber und schon, viele Extras wie Adapter für die Steckdose, wurden bei unserer Ankunft freundlich und herzlich begrüßt. Hatten nur Kontakt mit Raphael, wo von unserer Seite die Chemie sofort gepasst hat. Wenn nochmal Schweiz dann nur zu Raphael und Diana❤️ Danke für alles 😘

Super tolle Unterkunft, und sehr nette Gastgeberin! Die Unterkunft entspricht genau der Beschreibung. Alles was man braucht ist vorhanden und es fehlt an nichts. Sollte doch einmal eine Frage oder ein Anliegen aufkommen, ist die Gastgeberin schnell erreichbar und immer sehr hilfsbereit. Jederzeit wieder!

Overall, the place was very suitable. I'm used to a lot of space so coming to Europe (from Canada) there is always a bit of a sacrifice. Irene's place is very nice and has a great view but there are a few things you should know. First, it's an old boarding house with lots of stairs. You're staying on the top floor so you will have to carry your luggage up 5 flights of stairs. You have the entire space to yourself but Irene lives on the main floor. You're on the 3rd floor. There is laundry but it's in the basement and Irene charges 3 francs. Well worth it and you have pretty much exclusive access. The view is incredible and there is a little deck you can stand on and take in the view. Kitchen is new and has everything you need. Irene even left some bread, cheese, meats and yogurt out for me. The location is on a giant hill but so is most of Switzerland so nothing out of the ordinary. There is a small store up the street but most things require a vehicle to get around.

Vreni’s apt. Was perfect for my wife and I and I will definitely return on my next visit. Her home is centrally located making it easy to walk to most anything in Gais and it was easy to visit Appenzell by car and train. Also easy to get into St Gallen. From the moment you enter the apt you can feel the history and warmth of this home. Best AirBnB home I have been in while visiting Switzerland. Thank you Vernice, Danke!!
