Taking advantage of the privileged location and view, the guest is in permanent contact with the river and the vineyard. Quinta das Fontainhas. DOURO VALLEY is situated in the heart of the Douro Valley. Guests can enjoy the exclusive use of the entire property and the breathtaking scenery that will make for a unique and relaxing stay. The house, surrounded by vineyards and olive trees, is the result of the reconstruction of a 19th century winery and offers the essential facilities for a peaceful holiday. There are two outdoor patios, a large stone table and a barbecue. The swimming pool is set in the vineyards.

House of Figs, fantastic views

A restored house with all the comforts you need for a wonderful retreat and/or get-together with family and friends. This house is located in an old abandoned village near the river with a beautiful little beach. If you enjoy being in contact with nature, this is the ideal place; you can find otters, many varieties of birds, etc. The house has two bedrooms, a bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen, and air conditioning. The pool is shared with another house. Meals are available upon request.

Mare's shop

It was here, in my grandfather's time, that the mare he rode when he went to the fairs in Vinhais, or to deal with other matters of the couple, a couple in Vila Nova da Rainha, was housed. The mare was an elegant, reddish-brown animal that fascinated me whenever I went to wait for my grandfather on his trips and rides. There were certainly horses, donkeys, but my memory goes to this wonderful mare, on horseback from which I went to Vinhais, to take the exam of the then 4th class.

The gorgeously designed house is located in a generations old family property and derives from the reconstruction of an ancient haystack made of stone where rabbits were once bred - hence its name (“Casa dos Coelhos” stands for “House of the Rabbits” in Portuguese).
